Second Oklahoman website

edit

As a matter of information, please note that on March 18 The Oklahoman launched a second website, oklahoman.com, for subscribers only. The newsok.com website also continues with limited general access. "The Oklahoman launches Oklahoman.com website", newsok.com, March 18, 2012. Since it is strictly for subscribers, I am not sure that there is any point in adding this additional website to the external links section of the article; see WP:ELREG and WP:ELOFFICIAL for applicable guidelines. --Arxiloxos (talk) 17:59, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

List of awards

edit

The detailed list of awards is in danger of becoming a spamfest. It should be pruned down only to those awards that are notable.--ukexpat (talk) 15:09, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I have the same concern about the length of that list; I have some doubts about whether all those Addys, for example, are of encyclopedic note. The newspaper has a list of its awards from 2007 to 2012 (but not yet 2013) at http://newsok.com/awards, and this list is already linked from the text. --Arxiloxos (talk) 15:18, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Name change

edit

Sometime after 1983 the paper apparently changed its name from The Daily Oklahoman to The Oklahoman. When did that happen? — QuicksilverT @ 20:14, 29 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

According to the Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture, the name was changed in October 2003. [1] 2003 is also mentioned as the year of the name change in a Poynter Institute interview about the paper's next redesign, in 2008. [2] --Arxiloxos (talk) 20:26, 29 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
