BBC Dramatization
editI believe that in the paragraph beginning "In 1989, the novel was adapted ...", the two sentences should be exchanged to make them chronological. Further to this, I've found an old copy of the Radio Times which can be used to expand what was the second sentence (but would now be the first sentence) as follows:
In 1988, the BBC produced a television adaptation directed by Stuart Burge, with screenplay by Anne Devlin. It was broadcast in three one-hour episodes between 4 December and 18 December 1988[1].
- Selected cast
- Imogen Stubbs as Ursula Brangwen
- Tom Bell as old Tom Brangwen
- Kate Buffery as Winifred Inger
- Jon Finch as Uncle Tom
- Martin Wenner as Anton Skrebensky
It was repeated in 1994.
- ^ Heron, Liz (3–9 December 1988). "Women in love with Lawrence". Radio Times. 259 (3392). London: BBC Magazines: 4–10.

[end suggested rewrite] I only have the relevant issues for the broadcasts of 4 & 11 December, not that for 18 Dec, so cannot produce a full cast list. The five characters listed above were shown at the head of the programme entry for 4 Dec (in those days the RT tended to split the cast list along the lines of "starring" and "others"); the 4 Dec entry has a total of 22 cast members, the 11 Dec entry has 26.
Should all that go off to a separate article? There is none as yet, but on the Jon Finch page there is a redlink thus: The Rainbow.
Plot summary needed
editEven a short plot summary would make this article much better. Can someone who has read this book write a couple of sentences? Blue Rasberry (talk) 04:15, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I'm kinda staggered. A landmark work of 20th Century English literature by one of the UK's greatest and most influential novelists, and the whole thing takes barely half a page! Pegasuswhiterose (talk) 13:16, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
How Tom Brangwen married a Polish lady
editIsn't the first paragraph of "The Rainbow" called "How Tom Brangwen married a Polish lady"? Could this go in the article, or is it normally Wikipedia policy not to put chapter headings in articles on books?Vorbee (talk) 16:51, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
