editThere is a reason an international standard was agreed upon. It was first published in 1988, so that's 35 or 36 years ago, , with updates in 1991, 2000, 2004, and 2019, and an amendment in 2022 See: ISO 8601.
Also, it has been adapted by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). So let's all use it. It may feel odd at times, but one quickly gets used to it.
To me it's hugely disappointing to see so many people ignore this advice, for instance in the Release Date column on The Rascals discography.
