Correct song?!

edit

Could somebody please find the right song, at the moment it is playing 'Oh Christmas tree'.. - AlwaysUnite (talk) 15:09, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oh Christmas Tree is the English version of O Tannenbaum and its melody was used for this political song. Many protest songs got their melody from other (folk) songs. Bever (talk) 00:39, 16 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
I don't think the inclusion of the audio file is entirely appropriate here, as the audio played is not The Red Flag (even if it is the melody most often associate with The Red Flag). I'll try and source an alternative audio file that includes the lyrics, but if I can't I'll probably just remove the audio file unless anyone has any objections? aricooperdavis (talk) 12:08, 12 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've found a more appropriate recording held by the Bishopsgate Library and am trying to upload it to wikimedia so that it may be included here. At the moment I'm waiting for the rights to upload it in the original .mp3 format so that I do not have to re-encode it, but if I am not granted this permission I'll re-encode and upload as a different format. aricooperdavis (talk) 13:57, 12 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Alternative versions

edit

A variant which is worth preserving, because fun and also critical of a too-common variety of traitor, runs:

The people's flag is deepest pink It's not as red as you might think The working class can kiss my arse I've got the foreman's job at last. = Ardj (talk) 18:21, 11 November 2012 (UTC)ardjReply

I recall Private Eye having a version

"The people's flag is palest grey, we don't want to scare the votes away"
