Proposed change: three different bands called the Regents.
editThere are now three articles about three different bands with the same name: Regents, The Regents, Regents (band). I believe this is confusing and contrary to Wikipedia policy. I would propose that the example of the two groups called 'The Beat' is followed: The Beat (British band) and The Beat (American band) are used, with no one band allowed to 'own' the name. I would suggest the following: 'The Regents (British Band)', 'The Regents (American doo-wop band)' and 'The Regents (American punk band)'. There would also be a disambiguation page listing all three. Any views? Peteinterpol (talk) 21:18, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- Following a discussion with another editor, I propose moving this page to a new page with the title of The Regents (UK band). This is for the following reasons: (1) Accuracy - they appear known as 'The' Regents with the definite article on all their records and promotional material. (2) It is debatable as to whether they are regarded as belonging to any particular genre such as new wave, but they are undoubtedly from the UK and this distinguishes them from the two other Regents bands with articles, both of whom are from the US.
