Secret World Legends
editSince the game is now known as "Secret World Legends", should we update the information on this page to reflect its current version?
The article states that "the older game (TSW) and accounts will still remain functional and playable." This is not accurate. Within a couple of months of the release of "Legends" my attempts to log into (and play if I had been able to) the regular game were redirected to the Legends servers and there was no longer any way to play TSW- the real game. Legends is a sorry shadow of the real game. As someone who purchased a "lifetime subscription" shortly after TSW launch, I feel cheated and deceived. Because of my anti-Funcom animus, I'm not going to edit the article myself, because I'm not sure I could keep epithets and derogatory adjectives and adverbs out of my edits. I would ask someone else to verify that it has not been possible to play the real game since shortly after Legends launched and correct the false assertion in the article. Tried to log in to my Wiki account but don't remember username or pw and neither does my puter so *shrug*2602:306:3763:9340:4D87:FE94:24CA:FAA1 (talk) 03:39, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
Has the Secret World Legends relaunch garnered any "mainstream" gaming media attention? I'm not sure getting mentioned on a dedicated MMO site or three actually makes the new game noteworthy enough to warrant a Wikipedia entry. More likely, the March 2017 relaunch announcement should be mentioned in the TSW history section, with a typical red link to a non-existent SWL page, and indication that while TSW servers are still up, joining this game is no longer officially supported. 80.109.82.10 (talk) 15:36, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
It is completely possible to play the current game. In order to do so you have to go to the classic TSW account page, then download the classic launcher and log in from there. BasicsOnly (talk) 08:50, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

editFrom RagnarTornquist.com(in reference to this article): "Suffice it to say, there’s not a whole lot of correct information in that article. The horse’s mouth (i.e. me) has not spoken, and few know The Truth."
Mr. Tornquist implies that this article is in reference to his upcoming project, which he has dubbed "Next Big Thing" or NBT, and he has neither confirmed the title as "The World Online" nor has he confirmed anything with regards to the content of the game, aside from the following (from another blog entry)
"Okay, so what is ‘The Game’? ‘The Game’ is:
- Online, massively multiplayer, and persistent. (Might as well get that one out of the way.) - Completely original. - Not at all what you’re expecting.
What ‘The Game’ isn’t:
- In any way related to The Longest Journey or Dreamfall. (Sorry, guys. That’s not happening yet. That does not mean, however, that it’ll be three years until we start working on the sequel. It could very well happen sooner - if it happens at all. Because I’m not saying it will. But I’m working on making it happen, one way or the other.) - Your standard elves-and-dwarves fantasy MMOG. - Ready to be revealed yet." --Andre 04:05, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
The Secret World
editOk, I've reverted the edits, because I want to have this article to be dealt with appropriately. "Importing text" is a mess. The article should be moved properly (which'd require the deletion of the newer article to "free" the name). But before that, you have to provide a reliable source. I've seen the article on Eurogamer, but it doesn't mention the "title". Wikipedia is no crystal ball. Ok, screw that, just saw the official announcement. But the article still needs to be renamed correctly. --Koveras ☭ 19:42, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Move & history merge
editI have moved the page The World Online to this page and done a history merge. All revisions under either name are now in the history. If there is info in the versions edited under the old name that belongs in the article, you will need to look at old versions to get it. Note also that diffs may be screwed up when they go across revisions that were merged. This is why it is a very bad idea to simply "import text" from one article to another like this -- do a proper move instead. if you need help, use Requested moves or just put {{helpme}} on your user talk page with a note about the problem. DES (talk) 22:23, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks again, DES. :) Please, don't be harsh on Turbosauen, he's just not yet acquainted with the wiki-mechanics and, moreover, already got his share of criticism from me earlier today. ^^ --Koveras ☭ 22:28, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- I quite understand, sorry if I sounded harsh -- you should have seen some of my first few edits! This happens all the time, we just want to make sure that anyone who does it learns better, because it can be a bit of trouble to fix, and the fix is never quite perfect (diffs are messed up for a few revisions). Not a big deal though. Please do check if any info from one of the other revisions should be added back into the current version -- I didn't know the topic well enough to check that. DES (talk) 22:54, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- It seems complete right now, though we should wait for Turbosauen's opinion, too... And as for the learning matter, the guy looks like a decent person to me, I'm sure he'll be doing fine. :) --Koveras ☭ 23:01, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Dot Hack relevance
editIs Dot Hack relevance important enough to the game that it should be mentioned at the very top of the page? Being unfamiliar with either franchise, the mention seems clunky and distracting. 74.243.4.219 (talk) 01:46, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- Not really, no. I think it is a legacy from the earlier versions of the article when there was much less information available. --Koveras ☭ 06:03, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Exodus guild
editAbout that recent external link addition. What is the encyclopedic value of the website? Please, correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't noticed any at a fleeting glance... --Koveras ☭ 15:51, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hey Koveras,
- I added The Exodus Syndicate to The Secret World wiki under external links cause I believe that it might be important for those interested in the game to know that there are quality guilds out there, just as there are fan sites and that we are the first to sign up for the game. Going on 3 years, we are a very serious and professional guild and we provide though-out services to our members on a daily basis. If there are fan sites listed, there should be guilds listed.
- Me and the two other management persons have invested time and money and we, in my opinion, deserve to be on The Secret World wiki.
- Thank you,
- Lion Martinez
- Hi, Lion. The Secret World wiki is located here, this place is called Wikipedia. ;) And Wikipedia have some strict rules about information relevance. The fansites you mentioned are relevant because they contain further information about the game itself. Your link's encyclopedic value is just the link itself (support for the claim that certain guilds support the game). As such, its relevance should be explained in the main text of the article (like "Professional player guilds have expressed support for the game.") and the link itself should be narrowed to the one webpage that supports the claim and added as an inline citation. PS: Oh, and since the issue is TSW-specific, it should be addressed on its talk page. --Koveras ☭ 08:50, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:TWOscreenshot01.jpg
editImage:TWOscreenshot01.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there are other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Countdown decoded
editIt's not that hard, just use the seconds to figure out what each symbol means. So it says that it comes out...December 20, 2012. Not very encouraging. But I'm assuming that the left number is days. So should it be added to the main article? Einstein runnerDingdong! 05:50, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Tørnquist
editWhy was the names changed from Tørnquist to Tornquist? I believe the name is Tørnquist. Zeldakitten, aka Zeyra to some. Discuss edits and alike here. 22:53, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- It wasn't changed, it's just that someone has been to lazy to look for the proper "ø" and used "o" instead. :) I've fixed that now. --Koveras ☭ 06:27, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

- Funny, I don't remember doing that. :-/ I remember adding the Agartha bit but to alter Tornquist name... It's either a glitch, or I have lacunar amnesia. -___- --Koveras ☭ 18:05, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

New screen shots
editThere are some new screen shots that I think would make this article much better, I would do it myself but i don't know how.

Release date
editI just changed the release date. Could someone please check if I managed to enter the reference thing the way I was supposed to? Also is it OK to use the discussion page to ask something like this? I registered at Wikipedia just a few hours ago! Zip Heed (talk) 05:00, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- I applied the template to it. :) --Koveras ☭ 08:21, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Immages request
editThis article could really use some new immages/screenshots, the one I just deleted was about 4 years old. 80.60.4.194 (talk) 13:29, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- You didn't delete it. You just removed it from the current version of the page. Which means I am gonna get yet another "helpful" bot message on my talk page about it being nominated for deletion. --Koveras ☭ 15:52, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation
editNeeds at least a disambiguation with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes_Lackey#Secret_World_Chronicle (Which actually predates the 2007 announcement for use of the name by quite a big margin) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.223.139.18 (talk) 11:26, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
- No. Disambiguation pages are for articles with similar titles. If we needed a disambig for every string that has multiple uses or variants despite their lacking the noteworthiness to support an article, the size of Wikipedia would increase geometrically. 12.233.146.130 (talk) 00:43, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
Edit - December 19,2012
editAdded important information about controversial score given by Jonathan Deesing of G4 TV. Even tho the reviewer states multiple times that is in an unfinished closed beta test of the game, a score is given for the finished product. Due to this, the review page has suffered heavy flak from G4 members and commenters who request that that finished product be reviewed and not the very limited bug test that the reviewer took part in. The review and comments in question has been linked to this edit which will clearly show the information that I provided. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Max Hazard (talk • contribs) 18:46, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
Gameplay description ideas
editI went through and copyedited the Gameplay section but I feel it still needs to be elaborated upon, but in some concise manner so it answers questions yet isn't treated like a game manual (you can reference Gamespot's review or other reviews):
- Explain the types of missions, if the terminology is specific to the game (Investigation mission), you can introduce that.
- It should mention the type of adventuring the player does, that it's a third-person character running around a 3D virtual world.
- It's mentioned as a PC game, does that involve a lot of keyboarding?
- Add mention that the characters have no levels.
- Does the difficulty adjust to the person or are there scenarios for newbies and others for "advanced" players?
- How do the characters join and leave the virtual world?
- Can players own multiple characters? Do they need separate accounts?
- What happens when a character "dies" or fails a mission? (briefly mentioned in the Development section, but not made clear what was finally decided)
- Are there time-based missions that require players to wait and come back when something is made available/ready?
Are there special missions made available during certain periods (Christmas, etc.) or only to subscribers?Yes, already explained.- Also what is the proper wording and grouping: missions, scenarios, and quests?
- How is PvP handled? Are there specific arena scenarios for that type of play? Are there tournaments with fabulous prizes?
Just some thoughts. -AngusWOOF (talk) 20:28, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
