Reviewer Note
editThis article is a frame for the individual episode articles, and so will be accepted before the season is broadcast, because the only information in this article, rather than the episodes, is about production of the season. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:46, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
We do not include the infobox date for the first airing until it actually happens. Per WP:CRYSTALBALL "Dates are not definite until the event actually takes place, as even notable events can be cancelled or postponed at the last minute by a major incident." Meters (talk) 00:50, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
- For that matter, why does this article have a list of episodes with airing dates? Meters (talk) 01:06, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
Because we list the episodes that confrimed air dates.
With titles inculded, we don't want the entire episode section blank. ChannelSpider (talk) 20:27, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
Production Codes
editA discussion on production codes announced on the Catalog of Copyright Entries is being held on the Bless the Harts talk page. You are welcome to join the discussion and share your thoughts. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 19:53, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

I'd like to link 'I, Carumbus' to a non existent 'I, Carumbus' page so it appears as a red link. Iamalazer (talk) 11:37, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
- Not done I, Carumbus is a redirect back to this page. Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking#Circular, circular links are deprecated. DrKay (talk) 15:43, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
Broadcast dates
editNot sure, but didn't Episode 4, Treehouse of Horror XXXI air on October 18? I've seen it! I don't think November 1 is the correct air date. 2601:647:5480:46A0:115A:51E1:D88D:A5AC (talk) 17:29, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
Thats Canada. ChannelSpider (talk) 03:10, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
Regarding the re-casting
editIf you pay attention it's pretty clear that production-wise the re-casting of characters of color began at ZABF19 ("Undercover Burns"). Looking at the credits and listening for the four episodes that have aired, Carl was still voiced by Azaria in both "I, Carumbus" and "Treehouse of Horror XXXI" with the latter also featuring Dr. Hibbert voiced by Harry Shearer still. Both of these episodes aired after the premiere which featured Alex Desert, but both were actually produced prior to it (note that Desert also voiced Carl in "Now Now Museum, Now You Don't" which was produced afterwards). Given this Hibbert will probably be voiced by somebody else and THoH XXXI is not an anomaly or inconsistency. "The 7 Beer Snitch" should theoretically be the last episode that could potentially feature the original cast in these roles. Manacek (talk) 22:14, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Episode summaries
editSomeone is insisting on copy/pasting the entire plot summary from the episode article (along with many, many typos) instead of the standard one or two sentence plot summary. Am I wrong in saying that a multiple paragraph plot description doesn't go here? Bkatcher (talk) 05:18, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- Even if the full episodes summaries are on the separate pages for the episodes, those types of summaries can on the episode list too (even with pages). An example is The Owl House, where you see full episode summaries in the list, but two episodes have their own articles. And that is NOT a problem. This is even for this Simpsons season (especially earlier seasons like the first one. Plus for the spoilers, we already have the content disclaimer, so it really doesn't matter and NOT a big deal. Please see WP:SPOILER also. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 05:28, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- I'm not worried about spoilers, I'm worried about duplicate information and making this page a lot longer than it needs to be. It's like writing the entire plot of a book on the dust jacket. Also, these episode summaries read like they were written by someone who doesn't speak English as a first language. 'Holdup'? 'Lisa's plead'? Bkatcher (talk) 05:38, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- I do understand that some of the summaries do have typos, but per MOS:TVPLOT, summaries need to be about 100 to 200 words in in length. One of the summaries I might suspect to be WP:COPYVIO for how short it is. The episode with that of a short summary is "Now Museum, Now You Don't". The page size before you came in was 29kB, and that is NOT to worry something about. The Wikpimedia software allows pages up to 2MB in size. Editors shouldn't be worried about the byte size of articles. The amount of readable prose is what guides us. Please don't think that the summaries are a problem because of the page size is not 2MB. When it gets to 2MB, will try to do something with the issue. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 16:59, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- There is merit to what you say. I've extended the episode summaries. If you feel I've left out any important plot points, please add them. Bkatcher (talk) 18:51, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- The summary for "Now Museum, Now You Don't" is too short. Since it is an anthology episode, can you please make make summaries for the individual segments? It would just be like the summary of another anthology episode "Treehouse of Horror XXXI". Before you came in, the original episode summary on the page had summaries for the segments, but does mention about the wraparound at the top. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 01:34, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
- I can, but feel free to do it yourself if you prefer. Bkatcher (talk) 02:15, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

Merging Discussion
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) JE98 (talk) 23:46, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
Because of the discussion of episodes of TV shows being deleted as per @Some Dude From North Carolina, I think all episodes of this season that have articles should be merged, especially "Treehouse of Horror XXXI". BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 17:48, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Support merge - most of the episode-articles include only the following: (1) a plot, (2) references listing guest-stars, and (3), one or two reviews. There is no actual notable information (production, development, etc.) that a reader couldn't get from going to The Simpsons (season 32). Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 17:51, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Keep the way it is - Actually, I got in an argument with another user earlier this month because I was whittling down the episode descriptions, under the rationale that since the episodes have their own articles, they don't need a lengthy plot description. This article is going to get insanely long if we have to cram paragraphs of plot into an episode guide.Bkatcher (talk) 18:21, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Bkatcher: That wouldn't matter. There's no need for a lengthy summary, as 200 words will do. Plus, even if an entire summary was added for each episode, the article wouldn't be that long. Like it is now, this article is just guests, plots, and ratings. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 18:26, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Keep - Let those pages stay. This page will be crammed with those plots per the comments of @Bkatcher: --Rtkat3 (talk) 18:47, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Rtkat3: A plot summary for an episode should not be that long, per MOS:TVPLOT. See Bob's Burgers (season 11), Family Guy (season 19), and the season-sections on Bless the Harts. Plus, the episode-articles offer almost nothing that would benefit a reader. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 18:51, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- @@Some Dude From North Carolina:, there's no summaries on BTH s2. No one has added anything yet. CartoonnewsCP (talk) 02:32, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- @CartoonnewsCP: I just added some. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 03:54, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- Already a discussion: There's already a discussion about this, and the overwhelming opinion is to keep things they way they are. Bkatcher (talk) 19:00, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Bkatcher: That's an AFD. This is a proposal to merge (the information), which is slightly different. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 19:03, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Keep as is: Doing a mass AfD and a mass merge discussion at the same time looks like WP:ZEAL. The mass AfDs are not going well; I would think that you'd learn something from that experience. — Toughpigs (talk) 20:45, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Procedural keep as is Trying to get them deleted through AFD, proposing a merge, also while you've got this discussion going on all simultaneously is definitely NOT the way to do this. Let the other two discussions run their course, notability guidelines are being discussed extensively, while a guideline is being drafted. Once all of that finishes then come back if needed. TheDoctorWho (talk) 03:32, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Procedural keep Let the current AFD end, then if you wish either nominate a single episode for AFD or start a merge discussion for individual episodes. Don't do two things at once. Rhino131 (talk) 16:21, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Rhino131 I created the merge discussion, not @Some Dude From North Carolina. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 20:28, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- @BaldiBasicsFan I misread, sorry. Though I still say let the AFD play out before discussing merging. Rhino131 (talk) 20:44, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Rhino131 I created the merge discussion, not @Some Dude From North Carolina. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 20:28, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- Support - Wikipedia tends to give Simpsons more leeway than say Bless the Harts, or Bob's Burgers episode pages on its own. Keep it even on the playing field. CartoonnewsCP (talk) 02:22, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose forum shopping, let the SNG debate conclude Atlantic306 (talk) 01:20, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
Keep - many The Simpsons episodes have had their own pages and they didn't get merged. So why bother? ChannelSpider (talk) 03:09, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- That's because the older ones had more reviews and information about them to allow them to be kept (same with Bob's, Family Guy, and American Dad). Now most of them are just plot summary and that's it. They're notable for say WikiSimpsons, but Wikipedia doesn't need to be flooded with articles about Simpsons that have almost zero sources and solely plot summary. WP:NOTTVGUIDE CartoonnewsCP (talk) 04:36, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- Keep: If you nominate one at a time, I wouldn't mind (same for WP:AFD), but for all episodes so far, the quality between them varies. OcelotCreeper (talk) 20:21, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
Manger Things
editI don't know if it is the 700th episode in the broadcast, and I doubt it will be. Sure it is the 700th episode produced but why in broadcast when there is no information confirmed that it is the 700th episode broadcast? BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 05:16, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
