- Comment: Author: Please read musical notability criteria, and indicate on the talk page of this draft which of the criteria this band satisfies.I have not determined at this time that this band does or does not satisfy musical notability. - Robert McClenon (talk) 01:02, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Robert McClenon: The Sorentinos satisfy the following musical notability criteria:
- The Sorentinos have been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the band, such as articles in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, the Marin Independent Journal, and several others.
- The Sorentinos have received non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country, including various articles and an independently produced documentary film of their concert tour in the United Kingdom.
- The Sorentinos have released over 25 albums of original material on one of the more important indie labels.
- The Sorentinos have performed in thousands of live concerts over the band's 35+ years continuous history, in hundreds and hundreds of different venues, including many large-scale venues, and they have performed as the opening act for dozens and dozens of nationally and internationally well-known musical artists, including Bob Dylan and many others.
- The Sorentinos have been acknowledged by music journalists as one of the most prominent bands of the local scene of the greater San Francisco North Bay Area (Marin and Sonoma Counties, California).
- The Sorentinos were named one of the best unsigned bands in the country by the New Music Seminar in New York City (prior to them being signed).
- The Sorentinos have performed music for works of media that are notable, including various artist compilations, movies, and TV shows.
- The Sorentinos have been placed in rotation on major northern California radio stations, and have appeared in music videos on MTV.
- Lead singer and songwriter Danny Sorentino has been credited with writing the music and lyrics for hundreds and hundreds of notable compositions (songs).

- @Danmen2: I'd encourage you to leave this in the draft space until someone has a chance to review it. A large majority of the references on the page are not considered reliable sources. Many are self-published, and there's a lot of social media links as well. After I took out all of the citations that are either primary sources or social media, it took the page down to 15 references. There appears to be a lot of puffery as well. One question I want to ask is, do you have any connection to The Sorentinos? – Frood (talk) 01:05, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Frood: I do not have any connection to The Sorentinos. - Danmen2 (talk) 03:21, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
Reviewing
editThere are many critical comments that can be made about this page. It reads as promotion. If it isn't written by a connected author, it is written by someone who appreciates the band. The author is trying to convince the reader that the band is good. This is not the purpose of an encyclopedia. Articles should be dispassionate. This is achieved by starting the article using only independent sources. I think that this is not what has happened. Consequently, a lot of cleanup is required.
I considered sending this to WP:AfD. Although Wikipedia:Deletion is not cleanup, I considered arguing that if this is not cleaned up, it needs to go. However, the promotional style is not unfixable, and the band seems to me to be clearly notable. Two quickly found sources that seem to meet the WP:GNG are:
