When was it painted?
editAt least one source says Murray created the painting in 2010 - [1]. The infobox says 2012 but doesn't have a cite for it. Roger (talk) 20:11, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- Suggest the infobox change accordingly, as I can't find any cites for it being 2012 --Stuart Steedman (talk) 11:03, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
The "Comparisons" section
editNot sure if this section is relevant to the article. Should it have its own page and be referenced, rather? I don't see it as being core to The Spear. Thoughts? --Stuart Steedman (talk) 11:32, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
- Please change this section heading to English. This is the English Wikipedia all content must be in English - except direct quotes in limited circumstances or discussions about other languages as such. Roger (talk) 18:21, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
- I believe Sssteedman is referring to the "comparisons" section, which he renamed into English a few hours ago. Khazar2 (talk) 18:41, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've now done the same to this section's heading. To reply to Sssteedman's original question (now that I know what it is about); I believe this section is relevant to this article given the fact that various reliable sources are making the comparisons. It could do with a bit more detail about the media attention it has received as a consequence of the controvery about The Spear. Roger (talk) 18:52, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
- Makes sense to me, but I'd like to get some more of those sources in there, then; right now we've only got one. Khazar2 (talk) 18:54, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

ANC Lawyer's Waterworks
editThe first day of the court case by the ANC had to be postponed because of the crybaby ANC lawyer. Should be in the legal section. 72.228.189.184 (talk) 21:00, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
- Can you give a source? Khazar2 (talk) 21:16, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
- Suppose you're serious, it's hardly difficult to find, e.g. google "ANC crying zuma", e.g. this or whichever outlet, bbc whatever. 72.228.189.184 (talk) 01:36, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Too newsy?
editNot sure if this is a valid concern, so perhaps more senior Wikipedians can weigh in, however, I'm concerned that the article's tone is reading too much like a newspaper article, rather than an encyclopaedic one. Most sections in the article are dominated by direct quotes by the various players, which gives this a distinct newspapery feel about it.
Is this a legit concern? Should I look at doing a tidy-up, or is this okay given the newsworthiness of the article in any case?
--Stuart Steedman (talk) 08:04, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- Personally, I think it's okay. I'm a fan of letting the players in the case speak for themselves. The only exception might be comments from people like Tselane Tambo; as she doesn't appear to have a Wikipedia article, I'm not sure her reaction is notable enough to deserve several sentences. I'm largely ignorant of SA politics, though--Zuma, Mandela, DeKlerk and Eugene Terreblanche are about the only politicians I can name--so I didn't want to make this change myself.
- The other trick might be to start boiling down a few quotations to key words and phrases instead of complete sentences. "The ANC called the painting a 'big pile of poop', arguing that it existed only to 'mislead' the public." That makes it feel less newsy, I think. Khazar2 (talk) 08:13, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
