Why is this article named so when the name Marina Tower doesn't feature in the article? Welshleprechaun (talk) 14:50, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

It is an unofficial name that has featured in the media. The closest thing to an official name so far is "The Tower, Meridian Quay".Pondle (talk) 15:08, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

All the names for this development seem to be working titles at the moment. I think the name is OK for now since that was the name that was used in the media long before construction began. The article will need to be renamed once construction is complete and a permanent name is given to the building. Sloman (talk) 13:31, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Possibly worth noting that the tower is quite often the subject of rude comments amongst the residents of Swansea. It was the subject of a fair bit of heated debate in the "letters" section of the Evening Post before it was even started. Objectors complained about the increased traffic load that the building will generate when occupied and the massive impact on Swansea's skyline of a 29-storey building when the previous record-holder was a mere 11 (or is it 12?) storeys. It's being called "The Tower of Darkness" and "The Tower of Mordor" and all sorts of uncomplimentary things amongst some residents. Well Wikipedia isn't the place for opinion, either pro- or anti. The debate on the tower could be notable, if there are reliable sources recording it. The planning docs would record the number of letters of objection and letters of support, for example. Pondle (talk) 15:52, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Bayscape

I don't believe that the reference to Bayscape is currently justified - construction of this project hasn't begun yet, numerous tall buildings are granted planning permission and then either delayed, built to a different design, or not built at all (e.g. the Lumiere in Leeds, the V Building in Birmingham, Piccadilly Tower in Manchester or Bay Pointe in Cardiff. Until Bayscape actually starts rising, the line [Meridian Quay]will no longer be the tallest in Wales when title moves back to Cardiff in 2012 is still speculative. There is also the issue of undue weight here: if/when Bayscape is built, we can reword the article to say Meridian Quay is the second tallest building in Wales, Bayscape should be discussed in its own article or at Cardiff Bay.--Pondle (talk) 23:47, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
