Dead external links to Allmusic website – January 2011
editSince Allmusic have changed the syntax of their URLs, 1 link(s) used in the article do not work anymore and can't be migrated automatically. Please use the search option on http://www.allmusic.com to find the new location of the linked Allmusic article(s) and fix the link(s) accordingly, prefereably by using the {{Allmusic}} template. If a new location cannot be found, the link(s) should be removed. This applies to the following external links:
Londonderry/Derry
editPlease note that this article follows the Wikipedia consensus and compromise regarding Londonderry/Derry naming disputes. See guideline here. "Use Derry for the city and County Londonderry for the county". Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 20:52, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Influence of Terry Hooley
editA film of Hooley's life story was recently released at the opening of the Belfast Film Festival.
It would appear to suggest that Mr Hooley played a significant role in getting the band airtime on John Peel's show (via a contact of his in the BBC whom he had met in his Belfast shop).
If that's true, perhaps that significant event should be attributed to Mr Hooley. Presently, the article suggests that the Undertones themselves sent a copy of the song directly to John Peel and does not refer to any third party's help.

Irish cats
editAn editor using dynamic IPs is repeatedly inserting Irish categories per this edit. I'm posting this here in the hope that they will discuss their preferred version rather than reflex-revert again. RashersTierney (talk) 14:16, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
- It's been ongoing for a while. The cats clearly state in their pages that they are for bands from the Republic of Ireland, or if not directly then the parent category for them. I don't know what can be done, it's obviously the same editor continuously as they have the exact same editing patterns each time, they hit The Undertones and Cara Dillon. Canterbury Tail talk 01:01, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- And they're back. Canterbury Tail talk 11:32, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- So it's just getting into a vandalism revert again. It's obviously vandalism as the categories being added are Republic of Ireland specific categories and the Undertones are from Belfast. It's like adding them to a category on German Rock Bands. Canterbury Tail talk 12:02, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Link to Eponymous Debut in Section "Teenage Kicks"
editCould/should the phrase "eponymous debut album" in the fifth paragraph in the section Teenage Kicks (1978-1979) be changed to a link to the page for that album? As a user with not many edits, I currently can't edit the page. PriapicPrimate (talk) 23:57, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
- Good idea. I'll do that. --Kieronoldham (talk) 01:01, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

"Are" or "were"
editThe Undertones have long ago disbanded. Yet, the lede states they "are" a punk rock/new wave band, etc. Why? -The Gnome (talk) 21:50, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- Probably because they are not disbanded (having regrouped in the late 90s) and are actually still active. In fact they are currently on tour. Canterbury Tail talk 22:51, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

Section headings
editThe section headings for the various periods in the band's initial career, including the overaching "Casbah Rock" heading, do not seem to fit Wikipedia style. They read like a music critic's artful chapter headings rather than the no-frills informative headings I expect to see on Wikipedia. I do realize that some of them, at least, borrow wording from the band's song titles, but the sections are not necessarily about those songs specifically--it seems to be "poetic license" rather than neutral description.Jcejhay (talk) 13:25, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- You're right. I've had a go at renaming them into something more standard, primarily using the album titles. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 20:53, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- Good job. Now it's been rectified into a more encyclopedic presentation. --Kieronoldham (talk) 23:09, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
