Other Varsity Matches

Am I mistaken in thinking that "Varsity Match" is traditionally a general term for an annual match between Cambridge and Oxford universities in any sport? Naturally to a rugby player the expression would tend to be taking as referring to the rugby match, but i am pretty confident that is not its only use. Adam Russell

Under notable players, the entry on the American Adam Russell links to a MLB pitcher whose article makes no mention of playing rugby or attending Oxford or Cambridge.Toyokuni3 (talk) 16:32, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

John Robbie

Robbie was capped by Ireland in 1976 and was winning captain of the Cambridge team in 1977. Seems to be missing from capped player listings. Can't find a direct reference at the moment. Semudobia (talk) 19:37, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
