Bold, revert, discuss
editPer Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle, @Wikisteveb4:, can you please explain why you reverted a dozen of edits of mine? I've reverted those reverts[1] for the time being. I'm hoping you can discuss them in this talk page, before you make another revert/edit in the article. Hotwiki (talk) 20:18, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hello - In hindsight on my initial revert, I should have provided some context for the process in the edit summary, but I will do it here. Apologies. It appears that on/around 22 April you made a slew of edits to the page that disrupted the flow and counters the other "Voice" articles, destroying a sense of consistency. I received a concern from a fellow editor on the condition of the page and determined that you made several errors in editing the page. You deleted the series overview page, important information, and created a choppy version of what this once was, without adequate summary for doing so. The reason for the reverts on your edits are simple - making drastic changes with no consensus.
- If you still have concerns, I would love to talk more as this should be a welcoming space. Wikisteveb4 (talk) 20:26, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- To start things off, why are these changes necessary[2][3]? It seems highly trivial to pinpoint who are the winner, 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place, winning coach and coaches' sitting arrangement for each season, in the seasons section. It is borderline fancruft. Readers can visit the Wikipedia article of those seasons to see who won and who finished 2nd/3rd/4th, instead of cramming them all in 1 section. Hotwiki (talk) 20:33, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Please explain these changes[4], when a person, in this show – a kid, goes to audition/compete on this show, it doesn't automatically make them a singer and an artist. Why are you restoring terms such as "well known personalities"? That's not a very encyclopedic term. Hotwiki (talk) 20:38, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- There's also a separate section for the hosts and coaches, you are just repeating things by including them (hosts/coaches) in the seasons section – leading to overstuffed/crammed seasons section. Hotwiki (talk) 20:42, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- You've also restored outdated content.[5] The second season aired back in 2015. "Other auditions will be held at several key cities on a yet to be announced dates. For this season, the age of the auditionees were reduced to aged 7 to 13 from the previous season's aged 8 to 14." You made it sound like the audition for the 2nd season hasn't started yet, when the second season already aired back in 2015. Hotwiki (talk) 20:49, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- As for this revert[6], I hope you know, it is not advisable to use first party references in Wikipedia articles. Meaning you shouldn't use ABS-CBN articles to the Wikipedia article of ABS-CBN shows. Please read Wikipedia:Independent sources and use third party references in this article. Hotwiki (talk) 20:56, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Please discuss things @Wikisteveb4:, it appears you've reverted a lot of questionable content in the article, and there are simply too many issues, for me to pinpoint every one of them here. Hotwiki (talk) 21:00, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Glad to discuss it. First and foremost, I want to thank you for fixing outdated references. I only reverted that due to not being able to revert the vandalism unless I reverted those edits. Where you are misunderstanding policy is in Wikipedia:Be bold. In that text, it firmly states do not be offended if your bold edits are reverted. In this case, I and at least one other editor disagreed with your bold edits. Due to this, it is proper etiquette to go to the talk page and discuss it there. In reading those parameters it is clear that you did not go to the talk page to discuss major changes to the format of the page after they were reverted. That is your error. Mine also lies in the same vicinity, not coming to your user page prior to reverting your edits which I assume you spent time on, which I consider proper etiquette. Believe me, I know all about that and is frustrating to the core. For that I apologize. As for the reasons for your bold edits, I would love to hear further your reasoning for doing them. However, please go to the talk page in the future once they are reverted and do not come criticizing me for an opinion. It is essential for keeping this platform from going completely one-sided. Wikisteveb4 (talk) 21:51, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm it appears you only edited this article because someone message you in your talk page, to check/edit this article. The editor that asked you to edit this article could have easily brought their issues in the talk page and obviously they didn't. I wouldn't have even know there was an issue, if I didn't check your talkpage. So its not my fault, that editor didn't communicate in this talk page. Also, what "bold edits" do I need to explain myself to? Be specific. I've already explained several things in this talk page. Hotwiki (talk) 22:11, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- As for [7], making drastic changes in the article doesn't automatically mean vandalism FYI. Vandalism is spreading false information and trolling which I didn't do in this article. You are clearly not assuming good faith with the edits I've made. I don't appreciate you, painting my contributions as "vandalism" when this article was poorly constructed and poorly referenced in the first place. Hotwiki (talk) 22:19, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- This will end here. I deleted my comment on vandalism, you cannot cite that now. I made my position clear and will not continue when I have already described you deleting information that was subjective without consent. While it is "allowed", it is rude to editors such as myself that have made contributions like the series overview to the page (which now that it is deleted, is inconsistent with the main "Voice Philippines" page). I disagreed with it and eventually came to the talk page, which no one did before now. But, we have both made mistakes in this process, so I will not be in this anymore. Wish you the best and I appreciate your good intents and hopefully we can both learn to be more understanding in other disputes. Wikisteveb4 (talk) 22:33, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Wikisteveb4: please do not remove talk page discussions posted by other editors[8], in this case - don't remove the things I posted in this talk page. Its not a good look, for you to be doing that. Hotwiki (talk) 23:01, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- What are you doing to the page? You have now gotten rid of any indication of the winners or team members throughout out the course of the show. I was going to let you have your own, sole opinion, on the page, but now this entire page gives no indication of winners, finalists or results for a reader to conveniently look at. This is wrong. You are not consenting, you are just doing, when others do not want these changes. Now any reader who is reading the page has 0 indication of the results. It makes no sense why you are going on a mission to delete key information on this page. Wikisteveb4 (talk) 19:12, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
- They were removed for being unreferenced. Hotwiki (talk) 20:28, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
