This is now regarded by some people as one of the worst programme's ever made, maybe it was, but it would be worth clarifying what the problems were or weren't. I only have very slight memories of it from when I was a kid, but I did see a programme shown comparatively recently, there are a few clips on youtube. The singing and dancing looked quite accomplished, but the style of it looked like something from another age. I expect it had become a programme out of its time by the late 1960s, although this could be linked with all sorts of broader issues of tartanry and Scottish national identity.
