This article seems to be written VERY much in the style of a press release, possibly by somebody from E-ACT. E.g. "In September 2013, the Academy will take their successes, aspirations and vibrant learning culture into a brand new, £20 million, state-of-the-art learning environment..." or "it constitutes a recent change to a school with a very long and proud history, served for over a century by many superb teachers, head teachers and Governors". Plus things like including the sponsor's registered address and company number... this is unnecessary for an encyclopaedic article on an educational establishment, but would make perfect sense if much of the content had been "lifted" from e.g. a press release. 31.54.222.43 (talk) 03:44, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Redirect

Can someone please set up a redirect for 'Verdin High School' and 'Woodford Lodge High School'. Both of these former high schools were merged together in September 2010 to form 'The Winsford E-ACT Academy'. COPYVIO

Kudpung Hi, thanks for this. I've had a look and will make various changes to address this. I do have a question regarding the curriculum section of the article. I created this by just looking at the subjects the school provides on its website, and then made it to look in that structure on Wikipedia. It seems the Academy has copied this section to their "Appointment of Vice Principal for September 2017 - Information for Potential Applicants" document uploaded on Eteach. If you have a look at the document, you can see that the subjects are linked to its respective articles on Wikipedia, exactly how I've linked them in the curriculum section. Any ideas on a workaround for this, or if it can be ignored in the copyright violations, perhaps a note somehow could be added? This can be ignored for COPYVIO, but there is no need to link all the obvious English words. The list of clubs is also of little encyclopedic value - all schools have them, and some clubs often consist of only two or three members. Such lists , per MoS, should be reduced to prose anyway, and not displayed in a bulleted column. The article is tending to go far beyond the scope that is required for a Wikipedia article, often having too much detail. Just because the detail is available out there, there is no reason to include it in the encyclopedia - much of it is best left on the school's website (which is linked to), and the school's prospectus, magazine, or blog. For more help, see WP:WPSCH/AG where we have provided what we feel to be the best guidelines for schools and aiming at consistency among our thousands of school articles. Perhaps check out a couple of my GA school articles to get an idea of sufficient scope: HCGS, a state school, and Malvern College, an independent school. Thanks for this and just added a new build section, it does have quite some length and looking to add some pictures to the article. I'll be working on copyvio and reducing text that won't be needed, I'll try and get someone to assess the article after I've finishing doing these changes. Cleaning up

I have cleaned up the infobox, but noticed that all the illustrations have gone as they were deleted as copyvios (as above). I have now correctly linked the article to the MAT, but I am hanging fire on sorting out the overlinking. I do advise everyone to have a look at HCGS as to the level of detail required. The school looks like an interesting place to attend- and has a very clear web site. In its history it has gone through a lot of interesting stages- being a Tech, an extended elementary school, sec mod, grammmar, etc - 11-14, 11-18, 11.-16. @Steven (Editor): The field |established takes a date, anything more and Wikidata could reject it. If you look I transferred carefully all these former names to the bottom so they weren't lost. I removed the dates as we do not atttempt to write a full history in an infobox. On one of the many pages where this discussion has been spread, you commented on the need for a former_names field- have replied there and put it on my wish list. Unencylopaedic detail

The History section contains a huge amount of unneccessary and unencyclopaedic nonsense. There is a paragraph in there about salt production in the 1880s, for instance. That is irrelevant in an article about The Winsford Academy, even in a History section. Thats not the only para. Can editors please stop restoring such nonsense?
