I can't wait for the new series, but will there be a fourth series for 2007? User:James Forde 15:56, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Boot Camp stages

edit

In this rewrite, we have lost information about the 12 people in boot camp who failed to make it into the final. Should this information not be reinstated? Triangle e 14:36, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure it's that important. It hasn't been mentioned in previous years, but then I guess it won't hurt to just list them. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 14:42, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
But then you could say that about previous years' Big Brother psges too. This year's was done in far more detail than previous series. Triangle e 14:44, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well I mentioned their names now anyway. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 14:55, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
excellent stuff. Triangle e 14:55, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Avenue

edit

I did not like Avenue, telling us that they had been together for six months, I think Louis Walsh did the right thing to put Eton Road from Liverpool through and not Avenue User:James Forde 16:17, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Final 12

edit

A few of the current final 12 have had their own articles created, 2 were speedy deleted because they were empty and Leona Lewis is up for AFD because I feel she's not yet notable enough to have a separate article. But perhaps we could write about the contestants on this article, similar to Big Brother 7 before the page got too big and the housemates got their own article. Anyone think this is a good idea? — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 14:56, 10 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've suggested merger at the AFD discussion. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 19:37, 10 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

MacDonald brothers

edit

The MacDonald brothers are not the brothers on the X Factor, so please don't link to them. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 10:18, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Week 1

edit

Who do u think will go home in week 1.

Wikipedia is not a forum, this page is purely to discuss the article, not the show. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 18:54, 14 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Elimination table

edit

Should the elimination table results table not go the other way, with the most recent round at the top? jd || talk || 20:56, 21 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why? — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:03, 21 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Winner at the top. Always thought it made more sense... It's also done on other articles, and a bit of consistency over Wikipedia wouldn't be too bad in this case. jd || talk || 21:08, 21 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Oh all right then. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:45, 21 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kerry McGregor

edit

It says in the article that she's a paraplegic. If you look at what paraplegic means, however, it suggests that such a person would never be able to walk by any means. Kerry on the other hand, can walk with crutches. Should this word be removed? Triangle e

Some paraplegics can walk to an extent; some rely on walkers to get around, as it says in this section. I didn't actually see the part of the programme that spoke of her disability and didn't know she could walk at all so if you feel it is incorrect, it's probably best to reword it. jd || talk || 23:18, 21 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Her profile on The X Factor website says she's paraplegic. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 16:08, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ah - we should defo go with that then. Triangle e 16:12, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Too chatty

edit

Some parts of the mini-biogs read a bit like fansite chatter, rather than being encyclopaedic in tone. I changed a couple of "mums" and "dads" to "mothers" and "fathers", and I may do a bit more if I feel the inclination. Meanwhile, if anyone else feels like having a go... Matt 14:15, 24 October 2006 (UTC).

  • Well, I made a few more changes... Matt 12:07, 25 October 2006 (UTC).

Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus

edit

I got confused on October 29th, because you put down Bjorn Ulvaeus as the celebrity guest for the next Saturday, but then the next day, you put down then "Benny Andersson", but because I thought it was not fair, I got rid of Benny to put down Bjorn as the guest, then on Saturday, Bjorn Ulvaeus came in alone, and not with Benny, you were wrong Wikipedia! James Forde 07:21, 7 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I added that Björn would be on the show because that's what they said on the previous week's Xtra Factor. Someone else added Benny, so whoever that was, was wrong. I should have deleted it right away because if Benny was going to be on, they'd have said so on the Xtra Factor. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 12:19, 7 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

BMD Note

edit

Why is there a BMD note (see reference #2) on Ashley and Leona? Cipher (Yell) 22:45, 18 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's a reference for their middle names. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 22:57, 18 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Songs from movies

edit

When we start listing the songs being performed, should we list the films the songs are in as well? Or only the films, or only the original artists? It could get complicated as Leona is apparently singing "I Will Always Love You", which was originally by Dolly Parton but Whitney Houston's version is in the film The Bodyguard. Any thoughts? — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:38, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

As nobody has replied, I shall only list the original artists, as normal — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 17:33, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I only just logged in, so I couldn't answer before. I think it would be useful to list the movie that the song was from, as it directly ties in to the theme for tonight. Stompy 18:57, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Actually I think it's fine without the films, as people can look at the song articles if they really want to know what films the songs were in. It would be a bit cramped with the films listed as well. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 19:09, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I was going to be bold and just add the film names, but it makes the table messy.Stompy 19:13, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dodgy Citation

edit

"Contestant Ben Mills claims that the contest has been fixed for Leona Lewis to win". Okay, so a citation has been provided, but it's a reference to a tabloid article which does not itself provide a reliable citation. It simply qoutes "a source". I think it would be better to say he is "reported to claim", and will do the change. Dw290 10:17, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think it's a fix anyway. The song that has been chosen for the winner to sing is more suited to a female voice. Ray won't be able to carry it off very well and neither would have Ben (even though he has been eliminated) so I think that that would be ok to put in the article. Many people believe this too. --Fluffy Kitten 20:54, 9 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
It's still in the article, but the wording was changed slightly by Dw290. I hope it actually is fixed for Leona to win, because in my opinion, Ray shouldn't have been in the final 12 at all. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:50, 9 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

eton road should have been in the final...

Why do you insist on stating that Ben Mills is claimed to have said the show was fixed for Leona to win when this just came from a 'source' in a tabloid and Ben, himself, has actually denied saying this? Benmillsonline 17:47, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Eton Road

edit

Why does a search for Eton road redirect to this page? Kneale 03:34, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Because all information about Eton Road is on this page. They're not notable outside of The X Factor at this time. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 11:01, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

That Eton Road have been signed by Louis Walsh is just an unsubstantiated claim. Delete? (84.12.165.145 14:23, 15 February 2007 (UTC))Reply

Strange addition at the top

edit

At the top of the article is something saying "The FiXed Factor UK" (or something like that). Should this be there? Sam Blacketer 22:35, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

It was vandalism. J Di talk 22:40, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:XFactorTitles.jpg

edit

Image:XFactorTitles.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
