Theodor de Bry or Johann Theodor de Bry?
editThe name of this article is not correct. Johann Theodor de Bry (1561) was the son of Theodor the Bry (1528). See Johann Theodor de Bry at Rijksmuseum AmsterdamArconada 20:04, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

"fictional depictions" and "first-hand observations" vs. "word of mouth"
edit@ANELKAOS: I'm reverting your edits again for the following reasons:
- Saying de Bry is famous for his "fictional depictions of early European expeditions to the Americas" is confusing. It makes it sound like he invented expeditions to the Americas and illustrated them. They were real expeditions, which he produced artistic depictions of.
- Not clear on the intention of the change to "based on accounts or stories by word of mouth of explorers" vs. "based on first-hand observations by explorers". Are you trying to just reword the sentence, or say something materially different (i.e. that his work is based on third-hand accounts?). I think your version of the sentence is less natural.
- Using bold for emphasis is contrary to the manual of style.
