Greetings. I created this page on 24 Dec 2009. I have a conflict of interest, because Theodore V. Buttrey is my father. Still, I have read the guidelines for notability in [Wikipedia's article on notability for academics]. I believe Buttrey qualifies as notable under criterion 2 for his RNS and ANS medals, under criterion 6 for his presidency of the RNS, and possibly under criterion 1 for his body of work, although perhaps the article needs more in the way of "independent reliable sources."

I have also made every effort to treat the controversial material (regarding Buttrey's claims that certain gold bars are fake) in a neutral way. I appreciate the input of editors and others who want to look this over.

This is my first page, though I have made typographical corrections in the past. DukeLefty (talk) 01:23, 25 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I made some minor biographical updates today, May 31 2010. I also pointed the "crackpot" citation to its source, the New York Times article referred to elsewhere. That leaves, as the last "citation needed," the one about the Smithsonian removing the disputed bars from display. I will hunt that down next. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DukeLefty (talkcontribs) 00:37, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
