Thick-billed Parrots in AZ
editThe assertion that the Thick-billed parrot re-introduction in Arizona was unsuccessful is somewhat doubtful. There are multiple colonies that thrive in the Phoenix-Metro area. -- 65.208.210.97 (talk) 13:29, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
^ The above is woefully incorrect. We wish there were multiple colonies, because they are endangered. -_- The survival rate from the re-introduction project was ~4%, and there ain't no resident thick-billed in the U.S. of A. I'd call that unsuccessful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.192.192.50 (talk) 05:09, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
Thick-billed Parrot and Maroon-fronted Parrot are now subspecies
editThe latest molecular study "Complete mitochondrial genome of endangered Maroon-fronted Parrot (Rhynchopsitta terrisi) – conspecific relation of the species with Thick-billed Parrot (Rhynchopsitta pachyrhyncha)" shows these two to be conspecific subspecies. A little reorg of the relevant three wiki articles is needed.Sbalfour (talk)

– The consensus and guidelines recommend not to capitalise the common (vernacular) names of species (see Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Archive 156#Bird common name decapitalisation and Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Animals, plants, and other organisms). So I suggest to decapitalise the species and rename the genus article "Rhynchopsitta". However, I would also agree to rename them "Thick-billed parrot (species)" and "Thick-billed parrot (genus)". - Support both moves. The scientific name Rhynchopsitta is consistent as other parrot genera are currently using the scientific name, i.e. Psittacara, Aratinga, Pyrrhura, Anodorhynchus, Ara (genus). Regards, Sun Creator(talk) 13:09, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
