Is Thiers named for Adolphe Thiers? Owen 03:03, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The toponym "Thiers" has nothing to do with the French statesman Adolphe Thiers. In Roman times, the settlement that became Thiers was called "Thigernum" in Latin. Thiers residents are known as "Thiernois", reflecting the etymology of the place name. Helmardine (talk) 16:56, 14 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
