Additional main sections required
editMuch work is still to be done with this article, not least of which is finding some references to cover the subject matter. Appropriate images would help too.
There are several notable omissions from the article. At the very least, main sections are required for Publications (Books, magazines, annuals), Videos and Miscellaneous, since all are mentioned in the article Lede. Further sub-divisions may be appropriate too.
I can see that there may be a need for the 'Models/Railway Systems' section to be split into a new article (the name already exists as a redirect) since this forms the bulk of the article, and it will trim it down nicely. The heading levels would be better too.
Computer Games and Publications are also candidates for splitting off, but not until they are much better covered.
Online 'Thomas' Store
editUseful for reference, the following UK shop is dedicated to the supply of 'Thomas' stuff:
http://www.totallythomas.net/index.cfm
All the expected ranges are present, plus a few more... (Thomas 'furniture' anyone?). Most have some pictures. PC Games (under DVDs...) include pics of three other titles in the same series as 'Trouble on the Tracks'
Note - this is included here for reference purposes only, it is not an endorsement of this store!

Same applies to these links (US shops?), which were correctly identified as spam, and have since been removed from the article.
Hornby Cattle Car tidbit
editI just removed the following sentence from the discription of Hornby's Cattle Car for their Thomas models: (Oh no it's not. The Triang-Hornby model was a Southern Railway 'sheep wagon', which included the decal 'To be returned to Lewes'.) I removed it because there was no citation and so it's possible that this is totally fake. F3CNW 05:27 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- You were right to remove the sentence, as it was me being mischievous and not at all encyclopaedic. I loved the phrase '...this wording is something of a mystery...' and just had to react! However, the information is certainly not 'fake'. I have a Hornby SR sheep wagon upstairs, somewhere, so I ought to be able to provide you with a photo, one day. But for now, the best I can do is point you in the direction of this site, which shows catalogue photos of the wagon. Unfortunately, none are scanned at a high-enough resolution for you to be able to actually read the text – but as you already know what it says, you can just see enough to confirm my statement!
The Engines section
editI don't think it belongs here. Can I remove it or shall I leave it? TobytheTramEngine 03:12, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- I agree completely. There is no place for lists of models in this article. They are un-encyclopaedic, un-referenced and un-verifiable. They are also extremely boring!
- At the start of 2007, each of the ranges had its own page, with its own list of models. Speculative, 'wish-list' and highly dubious information was frequently added, usually falling far short of good English usage, and requiring much effort to keep clean. In February, this was noticed by some of the other WP editors, and it was decided the whole lot were unsuitable for inclusion in WP and were hence deleted.
- Since then, there have been continual attempts to add such lists to this page. I had hoped to retain the Hornby list, as it is arguably the most interesting (since the models re-use moulds that existed previously for different models). However, after continual updates of un-encylopaedic lists I decided that the wider view of editors should prevail, and ALL of the list-type information was removed - and that is how it should remain!
- Your help at maintaining the quality of this page would be appreciated, especially if you can find Reliable Sources for the information (which is a bit lacking at present!).

TrackMaster
editHi all. The TrackMaster section is outdated and I've marked it as such. The range has recently undergone a re-design. Engines are faster and run on new grey track. There are special track adapters to connect the new-style track to the old-style track. As of 2014, the rear wheels are designed so they can climb hills and slowly descend. However, the redesigns and quality of the locomotives and track were universally panned by most collectors of the franchise.
Trust me, they are Terrible. So much so, there is even A Petition at Change.org about discontinuing said range and reverting it!
