Chaloners at Guisborough
editI know that the present Lord Guisborough - who still owns a sizeable piece of real estate in Redcar and Cleveland - is called Chaloner. I did read somewhere that his father accepted the title perhaps in the 1890s or early 1900s on condition he changed his name to Chaloner. He had been a little removed from the direct line ... perhaps one step ... oh, hang on, ... found it see Baron Gisborough Francis Hannaway 18:49, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Moving article
editThere seems to be a confusion of Thomas Chaloners. The naturalist Thomas who prospected for Alum was a cousin of Thomas Chaloner the courtier and governor of the household of Prince Henry. See Simon Healy in History of Parliament online, 2010. I now therefore propose to paste the whole of the present article, suitably amended, into a new article 'Thomas Chaloner (courtier)', but to keep the present article title for a stub relating to the naturalist. Any assistance in tidying up redirects and links will be appreciated! Eebahgum (talk) 09:57, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
- Interim report - I have now done as stated above, link etc still to be cleared. Eebahgum (talk) 10:53, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
