    • Comment: best on the composer's birthday, 22 December, or close to it - I'll try one more hook which may be better on the day - the festival was in June, probably because nobody would go so shortly before Christmas ;)

  • I do think there's some potential in the original hook when it comes to interest, but it's a bit complicated and hard to read. Perhaps a simplified version that goes straight to the point might be better?
ALT1 ... that viol player Thomas Fritzsch initiated a music festival to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of Carl Friedrich Abel?
ALT1a ... that viol player Thomas Fritzsch initiated a music festival in Köthen commemorate the 300th anniversary of Carl Friedrich Abel's birth there?

Thank you for the suggestions. I miss the rediscovery aspect for both the one who searched and the one found, It's the key thing for me, rather than some anniversary festival in some town which is just there to give time and place. Perhaps you can word that? The 300 years and Köthen will hopefully come with the catalogue. ALT1a also has an extra preposition. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:56, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Including the rediscovery part might overcomplicate the hook so I had to leave it out. Had there been a specific connection between the music he rediscovered and organizing the festival to promote the rediscovered music, that could have worked, but that does not seem to be the case. I am sorry about my lack of English, and try harder. The rediscoveries are nor something to be included, but the main point of interest. If you can't include the town, and/or the festival, drop those. But we could also trust that readers are able to understand, perhaps even enjoy, sentences with complexities. We are not on the Simple English Wikipedia. We had already an article (with DYK) about pieces he rediscovered, ranked as a sensation. - Yes, some rediscoveries were presented at the festival (I was there), and some pieces performed the first time after his lifetime (no rediscoveries), but the focus was an overview, not a focus on those exclusively. He may have played something of the kind, I can look - next year. I couldn't stay until he played. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:29, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
ALT2 ... that Thomas Fritzsch organized a festival featuring works of Carl Friedrich Abel's he rediscovered to commemorate Abel's 300th birth anniversary?
ALT2a ... that viol player Thomas Fritzsch organized a festival featuring works of Carl Friedrich Abel's he rediscovered to commemorate Abel's 300th birth anniversary?
ALT2b ... that Thomas Fritzsch organized a festival in Köthen featuring works of Carl Friedrich Abel's he rediscovered to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Abel's birth there?
I'm a bit skeptical that this particular angle will have broad appeal, but I'm leaving this here in an attempt to please and find a compromise. 12:31, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
What in "I can look next year" was unclear? Today is still Christmas in Germany, I have guests, and tomorrow I'll have more guests. There's RL, and no rush once we missed the birthday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:41, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Back to work. How about dropping the 300 years, after we missed the date and even the year?

ALT2c ... that Thomas Fritzsch, a viol player who had rediscovered compositions by Carl Friedrich Abel, created a festival for him in Köthen (pictured)? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:30, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm fine with ALT2c, but I don't think we should drop the 300th birth anniversary part. Just because we missed the anniversary and the year doesn't mean it can't be mentioned anymore since the fact has not changed. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 13:01, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Well, I find it embarrassing, but here you go:
ALT2d ... that Thomas Fritzsch, a viol player who had rediscovered compositions by Carl Friedrich Abel, created a festival in Köthen (pictured) to commemorate Abel's 300th birth anniversary? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:25, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's starting to get on the long and complicated side, so while I would prefer the 300th anniversary wording, either one of my wordings or ALT2c might be the best option here. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 08:20, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can we agree on ALT2c? (I made ALT2d only because you asked, or what did I not understand?) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:22, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Are ALT2 and ALT2a not options? They basically say the same thing as ALT2c except more concise. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 13:33, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I asked if we can agree on ALT2c, and said nothing about the others, didn't say they are no options. I don't like citicizing the work of others, quite generally. If we can agree I don't have to. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:44, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not the reviewer so I cannot make a decision, but if you are really fine without mentioning the anniversary then I'm okay with ALT2c. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 13:54, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
  •   Approve ALT2c and picture Article was nominated within a week of creation, so is new enough. At around 3000 characters, it is long enough. The article is properly sourced and the copyvio detector finds no issues. The hook is properly in-line cited for both parts of its subject and is interesting. The QPQ has been done and the included picture is freely licensed for use. Looks good to go! I'll take the opportunity with this approval to also move said hook and picture into the nomination, so the queue approving admin can find it easier. SilverserenC 03:37, 7 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
