There is some confusion in the sources regarding the 1987 Lister Medal.

Sources that state that Thomas Gibson received an honorary FRCS in 1987 and do not mention anything about an award of the Lister Medal:

• BMJ obituary
• Gibson's entry in Plarr's Lives of the Fellows Online

The Plarr's Lives entry says "Sadly, Gibson's contribution was never officially recognised by the award of an appropriate honour." This may indicate that he wasn't awarded the Lister Medal.
