Todd was also a slave owner, and owned twenty-six slaves at the time of the 1820 census.
This statement relates to nothing before or after, and seems to have been bolted-on as a pretext for applying the category 'American slave owners'. I feel that this category should be restricted to people whose slave-owning history was notable in itself. Valetude (talk) 13:50, 12 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thomas Todd is one of the names noted as appearing in records but not the Virginia tax list of 1787. See Netti Schreiner-Yantis and Florene Speakman Love, The 1787 Census of Virginia (Springfield, Genealogical Books in Print 1982) vol 2, p. 1481.Jweaver28 (talk)
I replaced the blank 1820 cite with ancestry.com census information for Todd in 1820, but could not figure out which of the Thomas Todds he might have been in 1810. None of the three Thomas Todds on a quick ancestry.com search in that year owned slaves--They lived in Woodford, Madison and Estill, Kentucky.Jweaver28 (talk) 23:09, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
