Thomas Wright (Lord Mayor) → Thomas Wright (British politician) – Following WP:NCPDAB and a comment by Necrothesp in an RM for what is now Talk:Arthur Brown (U.S. senator), my understanding is that on Wikipedia we generally prefer "(XXish politician)" rather than a role-specific title. Also, there is something that seems odd about "(Lord Mayor)" as a disambiguation term – perhaps because it is not his full formal title (Lord Mayor of London). I am not sure whether "politician" is really the right term for an 18th-century lord mayor, so I'm looking for help to confirm that. There are currently 44 articles on Wikipedia that use "Mayor" or "Lord Mayor" or "lord mayor" as a disambiguation term (all but one of which use "Lord Mayor"). —BarrelProof (talk) 21:49, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

• Comment. No, "politician" isn't really the right disambiguator for a Lord Mayor of London. I'd prefer "lord mayor", lower case. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:12, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
