editThe history section has been lifted directly from here: Langdales 1822. It should either be attributed or preferably rewritten in a modern style. --OlderBrother 22:41, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

- It's not a copyright concern - it's in pretty archaic English, so it sounds strange, it would be useful if it was explained where it was from. But my preference would be for it to be rewritten in modern English, and I will do if I gete chance. As for the rest of your comment, I haven't got a clue what your on about. I don't think I've deleted anything worthwhile from this page or tried to get credit for anything, but remember what it says at the bottom of the edit page - If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it. --OlderBrother 20:26, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Yes well what is your reason for constantly deleting links and work i do, and then resubmitting it in your name. give me your answer to that. when i edited the page put perfectly good maps, history, sports information and other things you have taken them off the minuits later resubmited them as yours? 195.195.24.252Dandell 9:25 9 February 2006
Shops/takeaways
editDoes an encyclopedia really need to track the varieties of take away food available in Thornhill? Or the fact that people generally eat in restaurants in the nearest large town to a suburb? Or that prices are higher in local shops than supermarkets?????
If you can show me a featured article with these sorts of facts in them, I'll stand corrected. Otherwise, I think we should delete this section.--OlderBrother 19:51, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Who actually cares but you, the purpouse of these pages is to infiorm people, this section is informing people, so it is undertaking the purpouse of which it was created. stop being so picky, are u actually going to die if you dont have everything your way. as you have stated before, the text is public and can be edited by anyone, so let people put what they want on this page and stop taking off peoples work. 195.195.24.252dandell
- I didn't take anything out of this section, I merely ask the question: is it appropriate to an encylopaedia? I personally think not, but I am interested in what other people think. I've made some changes to this article which have improved the grammar and spelling .. if you think it was better before, revert or rewrite it. This is the whole purpose of everyone being able to edit the article - that includes rewriting and removing information. To quote from Wikipedia:Who_writes_Wikipedia "Whenever a reader finds something in an article which he or she doesn't think should be there, that person can edit the article and help make Wikipedia more accurate and useful." Not all information is useful/relevant information.
- I think that you have got me mixed up with someone else who for some reason has annoyed you, but let's not be personal about this. We both want an informative, well written article. If everyone agrees that this section stays, fine, and I'll happily tidy up the spelling, or you can do it yourself. --OlderBrother 15:58, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
This section, along with the Entertainment section, seems very POV in my view with qualifiers such as "enticing" and "competitive" which really don't belong here. It probably doesn't need to be as detailed as it is and the distinction between sections isn't very clear with pubs appearing in both the Entertainment and Shops sections. Considering the information here is disputable and incomplete anyway I would move to at least have it condensed. - Jordan Kelly 18:49, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
do u know what? WHO CARES. it maybe your hometown but its mine too. just leave it alone havnt you got anything better to do than be silly. and on your website u diss liam, liam is ace and probably better than you so leave him alone.
- Can you explain the last revert, and why you have reinstated phrases like:
- "Thornhill has several local shops which all mainly sell national produce and alcohol at prices much higher than those at the supermarkets." - is this verifiable or just opinion?
- "There are also Three Fish and Chip shops selling your usal fish and chip shop goods." - repeats itself (leaving aside the mis-capitalisation).
- "Thornhill at present has no reputable restaurants however the 'pub food' can be quite enticing and prices are cometitive." - not a neutral POV.
- "However, due to the very local proximity to Dewsbury most people buy in the supermarkets there or go there to eat." - is this verifiable or just opinion?
- As to "who cares?", I assume you don't, as you would seem to prefer to have a poorly written article rather than one which meets high standards and objective criteria. This is evidenced by your previous vandalism of the page and your lack of willingness to improve the written content. It's great to add new content, but you must accept that anything can be improved.
- As a disclaimer, this is not my hometown, although I know it reasonably well. I'm interested in the quality of the article - at times, without some editing it has looked amatuerish to say the least. --OlderBrother 12:16, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

OS grid reference
editThe one given doesn't seem to lead to a place on the map called Thornhill.--JBellis 18:30, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Now fixed. --OlderBrother 20:35, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Post town
edithttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_post_towns_in_the_United_Kingdom Dewsbury is listed as a post town here. The definition of "Post town" as is not what the postcode begins with but which town is listed with the Royal Maid for sorting. Dewsbury is its own post town.
