- "The anecdotes contained within the work were well popular" - you're not a cockney.
- "The Thraliana was a diary kept by Hester Thrale. It falls into the genre of table talk. Although the work began as Thrale's diary, it slowly focused on various anecdotes and stories about the life of Samuel Johnson. " - "was a diary" "started as a diary but wasn't" clashes. Also suggest merging the first two sentences.
- link Robert Cotton and Thomas Salusbury.
- "Johnson's previous friends or the public " - an either/or scenario? "and", maybe?
- "his death in fall 1940" - none of these people are unlucky enough to be American. Fall, over here, is something that happens when you don't look where you are going.
- "Observatiosn " - a typo when copying the quote?
- "traveling " - "travelling "
