Title and Article

The region is not having more then 4 million population(?). As per this [1] only Cochin can be called as a Metropolitan city. And think the same ref in article says about Thrissur citiy(And other 6 cities of higher population also). I think it should be merged with ThrissurCity --Rahulpattuvam talk 09:06, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

City vs Metropolitan City

Here we are talking about Thrissur Metropolitan Area not Thrissur City. There is a difference between a city and a Metropolitan area. It have well defined rules.

Definitely, The Thrissur City district itself dont have a population more than 4 million,then how can we add just some part of the City district as Metropolitan Area, have a look at this, List of metropolitan areas in Asia --Rahulpattuvam talk 09:18, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

The distance from Kodungallur from Thrissur is 38km and from Kochi is 30km! So which agglomeration Kodungallur belongs to? Note that it may be situated in Thrissur district but agglomerations need not belong to same district or even state. Use some brain

I think you have heard of Census 2011 conducted by Government of India to know the population of cities and agglomerations. The figures are the part of the Census. It is not a part of anyone’s wild imagination. And for Kodungallur, it is a part of Thrissur and politically, economically and socially they have to come to Thrissur because it is the district capital. You can’t give an application in Ernakulum collectorate for Kodungallur because Kodungallur lies in Thrissur district. So please use your brains.

A city is governed by a Municipality/Corporation, where as there is no specific administrative authority or region defined as such for an urban agglomeration. UAs are mainly used for identifying the urban areas. Other than calculating urban population these areas have nothing to with. If that is the case, India has nearly 475 regions identified as UAs and practically every such place will end up with one of these articles. —Commander _{(Ping me)} 06:33, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

• Thrissur earlier had a developmental authority known as Thrissur Urban Development Authority. It had designed lot of projects for Thrissur. But the Government of Kerala has dissolved it so that it can give more importance to Trivandrum and Kochi cities. According to our politicians and bureaucrats who sit in the State Capital only have two cities in whole Kerala, Kochi and Trivandrum. I don’t want to prove Thrissur as a Thrissur Metropolitan Area because Govt census of 2011 have clearly said and defined Thrissur Urban Area.

Now, no body is telling you to put 475 regions identified as UAs in to Wikipedia. That will be done by users of Wikipedia only. And 475 UAs are legal document by Government. It is not an day dream or imagination of some people.

What this actually means? All I wanted to say was it’s not a Metropolitan Area. Even your first response (if all the IP edits are same person) argued that it’s a Metropolitan Area.

Go through the following,

• The total population explained in the article is about 1.8 million (~18 lakh)
• A Metropolitan Area defined by population is of more than 4 million in India (40 lakh)

So it can only named as Thrissur Urban Agglomeration , not Thrissur Metropolitan Area - Rahulpattuvam talk 16:33, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

What about Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi

So what about Thiruvananthapuram metropolitan area and Kochi metropolitan area? Where are the changes in these articles? Otherwise Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi are not in Kerala. Some people are very very interested to show that Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi are the biggest cities in Kerala. Come on man get a break for you.
