References
editThank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them). WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN.
- While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite" click on it
- Then click on "templates",
- Choose the most appropriate template and fill in the details beside a magnifying glass followed by clicking said button,
- If the article is available in Pubmed Central, you have to add the pmc parameter manually -- click on "show additional fields" in the template and you will see the "pmc" field. Please add just the number and don't include "PMC".
We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note.
Merges, blanking content
editPlease discuss any proposed merges here on the talk page before merging this article with another. There are more references and more content that are ready to be inserted. This article is by no means complete and I am requesting other editors refrain from deleting content without discussing it first on this talk page. Thank you and Best Regards,

Caution: moving, merging and copyediting results in referencing errors
editThe participation of other editors in helping to edit this article is extremely welcome and appreciated. Due to the abundance and method of formatting of the references, careful attention to the placement and movement of the references when the content they support is moved, copyedited, merged or deleted has to be precise.
A recent deletion of content from this article and its insertion into another resulted in content being moved without its references. In the article where this moved content now exists, the content is unreferenced.
Also, some of the content in the article now is supported by a long collection of references. This has been done for the purpose of assisting other editors to edit out some of these references as they age to be removed as they then are not compliant with MEDRS. Removing out of date references becomes much easier (if you know how to edit tables). Using this method of referencing also means that the content does not have to be removed since it is still supported by other references. Best Regards,
