Yeshe's marriage
editProwikipedians erased as "vandalism" my footnoted observation that Yeshe was married:
- In 1981 Lama Yeshe married an Australian disciple, apparently for the purpose of obtaining an Australian passport which, it was thought, might have allowed him to visit Tibet. [3] Their marriage is said to have been a celibate one (though this would still have constituted a serious violation of the vinaya).
And the source:
- [3] Paul Croucher, A History of Buddhism in Australia, 1948-1988; New South Wales UP, 1989; p. 93.
I submit that this is actually in important piece of information (though understandably embarrassing to Yeshe's followers), and that the source appears to be reliable. --Dawud —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.167.167.137 (talk) 06:44, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
If you cited the source it's certainly not vandalism. What you don't cite is a source for the business of a celibate marriage being a vinaya violation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.200.36.74 (talk) 20:13, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
I know of and have read a lot of Croucher's book: much of what is in it is complete rubbish; it is NOT an authoritative source. Croucher generally takes a very cynical and skewed view of many events. It would be good to find some other source for this claim. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.134.126.111 (talk) 13:08, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
