editThe stage Tiglian was introduced by Van der Vlerk and Florschütz in 1948 on the basis of the occurrence of Azolla tegeliensis, Viviparus glacialis, Mimomys pliocaenicus and Archidiskodon meridionalis. (van der Vlerk, I.M. en Kuenen, Ph.H., 1948. Geheimschrift der Aarde. De Haan, Zeist (5e druk), 370 pp.) In the same book were introduced as new stages: Tubantien (now Weichselian), Eemien, Drenthien (now Saalian), Needien (now Holsteinian), Brabantien (all stages between Holsteinien and Tiglien), Tiglien and Praetiglien. --Tom Meijer
The page is in need of revision. The role of Kasse is rather small. There should be more emphasis on the role of more important people, such as Van der Vlerk, Florschütz, Zagwijn, etc. --Tom Meijer
