Tennis girl

Maybe it is something for the "Cultural and historical references" section, the article Tennis girl described the scene enough. mabdul 09:14, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Plot inconsistencies

edit

I was in a live chat on the BBC website with Doug Naylor back when series 8 was about to start, and he touched on the time drive inconsistency. I believe his words at the end of the session were "What? Nobody asked me how the time drive was able to transport them across space as well as time in Tikka to Ride? But I have the whole answer written down right here in fornt of me! It's all down to Loius the Sixteenth and the Hapsburgs!" Pretty sure the log was still available to view as recently as 2010.82.39.123.94 (talk) 12:29, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I removed the last one (and forgot to log in while doing it). The reasons are in the edit summary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by King Klear (talkcontribs) 16:54, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

That section needs to be looked at and re-written as a factual description, not as an argument that gives value judgements on the episode. 31.205.37.134 (talk) 03:46, 3 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've made a start on rewriting this section. If anyone wants to develop it further, please bear in mind that the previous version had the following problems:

  • It had non-neutral PoV and casts value judgements. "The plot is heavily flawed" - "Kennedy's future self should have..." etc.. This is fair criticism, but it's original research and not appropriate for Wikipedia.
  • It wasn't very well explained. What's a "gratuitous future"? How can the heroes be described as the "canonical cast", when their future selves are played by exactly the same cast? Who says anyone added a "spatial component" to the time drive? Who even says there's such a thing as a "spatial component" in the Red Dwarf universe? Why are we naming non-existant hardware...?
  • It didn't link to the Wikipedia page for temporal paradox, which is a shame, because making the link means you don't have to explain the paradox in so much detail here!
