This is my first contribution. I struggled with the format. Mention of a lot of albums was left out because I couldn't figure out how to format everything. Should I have entered the information that I gathered about his wife and child? If so would it be best to try for a chronological order or seperate things as much as possible. There dosent seem to be a consistent style to articles for similiar artists. I tried to keep it as dry as possible.

Good thing you kept it "dry". I would not have been able to. Hardin's "Red Balloon" is something from my childhood I will never forget. I must have been 11 or so. First time I discovered I could truly understand English (not my native language). First time also, perhaps, that I was really moved by a piece of poetry in *any* language. To be honest: I was absolutely shot in the heart with the tragedy of those lyrics. The way it made me feel, never went away and it became part of my personality. I remember I taped the song on the old small reel tape recorder I had, wrote out the song's lyrics, memorizing them. I'm now a better man for it, I'm sure. Sorry for rambling.
I hope someone is going to write more about Tim. I would if I could because I owe something to this artist. 80.126.3.128 23:27, 29 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

I've added a mention that Red Balloon was also covered by Kula Shaker in 1996 as a B side to one of their single releases. Great version. I will now have to check out Tim Hardin's original, which I have never heard. Ionlyhaveonename (talk) 22:49, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Timhardin.jpg

edit

It's a shame the pics got knocked out. Fair use would support at least one non-free image.

I'd also like to see some mention of "Hang On To A Dream". Wwwhatsup (talk) 13:30, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Additional cover for 'If I Were A Carpenter'

edit

Please Note: Didn't Kris Kristofferson cover 'If I were a carpenter' and sing it on either the 'Ed Sullivan Show' or the 'Johnny Cash Show'?

Covers section

edit

I think this section is out of hand. Everyone and their brother does a Hardin song, no matter how minor the act, or how minor the song. What if there were such a section in other composer's bios who are much more famous? Each song that has its own page should suffice for mention of who has covered it. A statement that Hardin has had many covers of his songs and examples of some who had great success with them... that should be enough. What say you? stage fright

edit

Why does stage fright here link to glossophobia, not stage fright? PtrQs (talk) 11:30, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I fixed it. Airproofing (talk) 15:05, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Updates and archiving

edit

Hi folks, I hadn't intended to do much work on this article, but just started pottering around and somehow, it kept developing! I have added a new section Tributes and legacy which others can improve obviously. There are some new references and I will try and get them all archived over the next day or so. Sorry for not putting a comment in each time I saved an edit! But I think it does look a little more up to date. I welcome feedback here. Oh yes, I did some reflisting as well. It allows a cleaner window for visual changes and having all the references in one list is quite handy. Realitylink (talk) 00:13, 10 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
