GA Reassessment

The article fails WP:GACR 1b as it lacks a comprehensive lead. By appearances alone, it might not have grown much since it was promoted in 2007, as there is no text on his career accomplishments despite a long list in his infobox. The lead currently only mentions his current team, his nickname, and trivial mentions of his body measurements.
Also, there are numerous tags in the article for citations needed or possible original research, possibly failing GACR 2b and 2c. All issues have been tagged and unresolved for over a month.—Bagumba (talk) 21:07, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- From a quick look at the article, I do agree that there are a number of ways this article would need to be improved to be kept as a GA. I think it's doable, though. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:23, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed. Unfortunately, if it wasn't for a GAR, nothing might get done here. I was shocked by the lead for a GA of someone of Lincecum's caliber.—Bagumba (talk) 21:28, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sometimes, pressure is necessary. I don't really understand the GA review that listed this article in the first place, granted it was five years ago. Details have been added for every season, though perhaps not in the methodical GA manner necessary.
- I took a first stab at the lead, but it could surely be longer. I'll try to read through the body soon. ``– Muboshgu (talk) 21:36, 7 August 2012 (UTC)*Disclosre:
- Disclosure: This is the first GAR I ever started. Apparently, I get the "honor" of closing this also (I am finding out now). My initial intent was to point out the problems I found so far and leave it to an admin from there. That not being the case, I agree with your assessment that the article details are "perhaps not in the methodical GA manner necessary" aside from the glaring problems I initially reported. Be prepared for more comments after the initial ones are addressed. More citations can be added aside from the ones already tagged.—Bagumba (talk) 22:48, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

- I don't know how long these are supposed to remain open for (never participated in one), but I don't think I have the time to fully engage with this article right now. Nobody else has stepped up to the plate yet either, so I don't feel optimistic about the outcome. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:31, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. WP:GAR only says "Allow time for other editors to respond." I'll give it another week at least for someone new to step forward.—Bagumba (talk) 22:17, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- With no further progress on the lead or adding needed citations, I am delisting from GA.—Bagumba (talk) 23:33, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- His pitch repertoire section could use an update, as well. This is a self-labeled specialty of mine, so perhaps I will give it a look. --Jprg1966 (talk) 05:34, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
