I cut this misperception about bad farming in the Adirondacks is a myth, one which Lake Placid historian Mary MacKenzie was adamant about debunking. The source here is a New York City journalist who is not necessarily qualified to make the assertion. For MacKenzie's argument, see The Plains of Abraham, ISBN 978-0975522431, p. 20-21.
