Rationale for pulling backwards compatibility?

edit

This article would benefit from some discussion of changes in backwards compatibility and the seemingly mad decision to pull even software emulation from recent builds. MrZaiustalk 14:48, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was primarily to prevent competition with the PS2 and encourage PS3 game sales though the secondary reasons was it was cheaper to dispense with the PS2 emotion engine processor and the software emulation compatability wasnt perfect, reportedly however its to reappear with Sony having perfected hardware emulation of the emotion engine on the cell processor, though its speculated this return may be confined to playstation store ps2 games. 83.104.138.141 (talk) 02:25, 1 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
