How to count the number of planned launches
editThis page uses the entries in the corresponding "YYYY in spaceflight" articles to maintain the number of planned launches. To update the stats open "Orbital launches" section in the source editor and count the number of TLS-RL (a browser can count the number when you search for "TLS-RL"). Subtract the total number of launches available at the top of the page. Subtract the number of "ground test" failures if any. Subtract the number of future Ariane 5 payloads (count the number of "ariane5-pairings"). Add the number of Ariane 5 launches (it is the number of Ariane 5 payloads divided by 2 and rounded up). The resulting number is the number of planned launches. — Sbsail talk 18:05, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Merge proposal
editA merge proposal has been posted at List of spacecraft, yet no rationale has been given here. Spacecraft aren't my main area of interest or expertise, but I would have thought that the list of spacecraft would have plenty of scope for expansion, from the first V2 rockets, through Sputnik, other early satellites, the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo spacecraft, through to Skylab, the International Space Station and Buran and Space Shuttle vehicles. - All I can see is scope for duplicating this series of articles --GW… 11:42, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- Only spacecraft with articles on Wikipedia need be listed. Mjroots (talk) 09:00, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- And that is an advantage because...? I think WP:ASR would apply. --GW… 09:03, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm, not sure of that. The two entries on the list at the moment were spun off from List of aircraft by tail number, being deemed as spacecraft and not aircraft. Like I said, spacecraft are really outside my area of interest, but I can see a use for a similar list to the aircraft list. Mjroots (talk) 09:18, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Orbital launches by year Chart
editHello,
Congratulations for the work done here. Regarding this chart, it seems that the bars are not tailored to the Y axis. I don't know how to produce such a chart (well, in fact, I don't where the data are available, except year-page by year-page), but can this be corrected?

Total Summary
editWould it be possible for a 'grand total' box to be created, giving a running total of the total number of launches ever?80.42.144.136 (talk) 23:47, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
Chart somehow broken
editThe chart seems to be broken as both axes are moved to the right. Can someone repair the sourcecode? I cannot see much sense in it, nor find the bug. HHrad 17:24 (UTC), 11 February 2019 — Preceding unsigned comment added by HHrad (talk • contribs)
- Not broken just too big UnknownM1 (talk) 17:57, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
- That's actually a known bug in Module:Chart, being discussed at Module talk:Chart#Working on a new version without all that extra space. @HHrad: Perhaps you can help there. — JFG talk 11:00, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
Chart outdated?
editThe chart goes to the first quarter of 2013 it seems. As this is already 6 years ago, it seems kind of outdated. I don't have the sources and time to update the chart myself so I thought I bring it to anyone's attention. 192.33.238.52 (talk) 14:03, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
- It's up to date. It goes up to 2020. Most likely the browser you are using cuts it. — Sbsail talk 23:52, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
Firsts in spaceflight - where to list them?
editI've had a problem recently with milestones in spaceflight that aren't relevant to space exploration and clogged Timeline of space exploration. They shouldn't be on Timeline of space exploration, so where should these milestones be indicated and how?
Examples include "First intercontinental balistic missile", "First tourist in space", "First person born in the 21th century in space", "First human spaceflight launched by a private company", "First cubesat in deep space", "First movie filmed in space by professional film-makers".
Should a new section on Timeline of spaceflight be created? If so what should it be called? Should it be on another page? Does a lesser known other page already exists?
I am looking for ideas.

- Not every piece of information that is sourceable necessarily belongs on Wikipedia. That may be the case here. TompaDompa (talk) 16:54, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- The "firsts" that are historically relevant or in keeping with similar records kept on Wikipedia for other categories of human activity (numbers of people in space, first to a location or to do a particular activity) are at List of spaceflight records along with records for age, duration, number of flights, etc. It does not however go into the level of depth being suggested here because that would be superfluous. Firsts by country are also recorded at Timeline of space travel by nationality. Astrofreak92 (talk) 21:50, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- There is already Timeline of private spaceflight, which is a fitting place for any private spaceflight and space tourism related notable firsts. Also stuff like the "First person born in the 21th century in space" are simply trivia, and while a mention of it in the dedicated article of the flight (Blue Origin NS-16) is fine, it is not really worth listing among any really notable achievement.--Staberinde (talk) 11:18, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
