Promotional edits

edit

Hey all, noticed a recent IP contributor disclosed in the edit summary that they updated this page for their boss. I added a COI template to the top and removed much of the promotional language, but many unsourced statements remain. Not sure if this even passes WP:GNG. Hello,
Thank you for your concern. I've removed the tag as the dithyrambic prose calling him Timothy seems to have been removed. Apologies: in my edit summary I mentioned ONE edit by that IP but maybe a similar IP user made another, at least. Also, when looking at the page's earlier history, I found that huge bits have been deleted because they included promotional language, but every time that removed a lot of sourced and valid material in my view..Anyway, thanks. I'll watch the page, fwiw. PS- As for notability, I, for one, cannot see how he could be considered non-notable and added some sources to back this claim. See my !vote at the Afd you initiated. For Mushy Yank. Timothy has won an Emmy. Its well documented and I can provide a picture of the Emmy itself with his name on it. In the PDF That I sent over it list the Emmy Winners below each category for the win. I Also sent over a link for an image from Getty of Timothy Accepting the Emmy on National Television. Ive seen many other Wikipedia pages where it says Emmy Winner on the top so just confused, SMCA12 (talk) 18:29, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, thanks for reaching out.
Just open the page about, say, Martin Scorsese, and read the first sentence, please. Try every page about extremely famous American filmmakers, and if the 1st sentence says Academy Award Winning Director, change it for simply "director", please.
I am really sorry to be contrarian but the PDF says the series received the Emmy (and 5 other persons, the other producers, are mentioned below, true) but the award is for Outstanding series not for Outstanding Producers. Am I not correct? As producer/director TWJr received the Emmy because....the series has no arms, I guess.
What you could do is add in the lead section (again, 2nd sentence not 1st) "Woodward is the director of XXX (his most notable films) and the producer and director of Studio City, a series that received the Emmy for Outstanding Limited Series in XXX" (or something like that). By the way, as you seem to know TWJ's career rather well, do you happen to know if WEAPONiZED was also released (in English) as Swap, or if it's the working title or a DVD title? Thanks. Hey Thanks for the reply. I will take a look at the page you suggested. As far as the Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series goes. In Television or Film as in the Emmys or the Oscars the producers only way of winning is for the series or film. If a movie wins best picture for Example with the oscars. The selected producers are the ones who win. There is no such thing as best Producing for The Emmys or Oscars. TWJ is the main producer, show runner and director of SC which is why his name was listed first by the academy. I will put links to pictures of TWJ's Emmy below and also note that IMDB has TWJ listed under there awards page as well and The Academy has verified TWJ as an Emmy winner as they are the ones who gave him the award.
As far as Weaponized goes. Swap was the original title and was used in some countries but it was renamed to Weaponized by the domestic distributor.
Please see below for the Links

Thanks for the reply. I never doubted that TW had physically received the Emmy. Still I am not sure what wording is best. I still am really reluctant to write "he" "won" the Emmy. But as I said, fee free to add a second sentence about Studio City (and that the series won the Emmy, received by TJR, together with the other 5 producers). Something like what can be found in the page about Paul Haggis (2nd sentence): "He is best known as screenwriter and producer for consecutive Best Picture Oscar winners Million Dollar Baby (2004) and Crash (2005), the latter of which he also directed. " (with the link of the PDF, not sure I put it in the article already). The article already mentions the series anyway. Hope that helps. PS- thanks for the clarification about Weaponized. -My, oh my! I provided the link to IMDB. Please use that link. Heres a perfect example Martin Scorsese has won Emmys and been nominated as well for Outstanding drama series and for outstanding documentary. As a producer you win an EMMY and are an Emmy winner when the series wins as its your series. Thats why IMDB has it listed as Emmy winner on the awards page while showing the other nominations. also please see below for an example of Martin Scorsese

Unfortunately IMDB is not considered reliable on Wikipedia (not my call; but if you add it, someone may remove it) but again, I never doubted he received the Emmy and you can add the sentence. Just don't add it as first sentence and not as "Emmy Winner Director". Thanks. (Also, technically, sorry for being pedantic, the producers are 6). Again feel free to add a sentence mentioning the Emmy and other notable productions. -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 06:36, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Or write the sentence you really wish to write here, below, and I will ask around if other users also think it's OK. -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 07:26, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
