Heinz Watties, Peters & Browne, Fonterra
editThe article says
"In April 1997 Tip Top was purchased by a West Australian food processor, Peters & Browne’s Foods from Heinz Watties." ... "Tip Top Ice Cream became part of Fonterra Co-operative Group after Fonterra purchased the Peter and Browne’s Foods Business from Heinz Watties."
So what happened? At face value it seems Heinz Watties sold it twice. Is this a mistake or did they purchase Peter and Browne in the interim? Kiore (talk) 08:52, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
This is a mistake - P&B purchased Tip Top from HW and then Fonterra purchased P&B (I seem to remember it was privately owned) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.89.178.11 (talk) 02:42, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
1970s: R2D2, TT2, and Moggy Man
editThe article says "R2D2 Iceblock (became TT2's)" Is this correct?
- I'm sure TT2s were available in the 60s (But it was a long time ago, I could be mistaken)
- I don't recall TT2s ever being called R2D2
- I do recall TT2s being renamed "Moggy Man" in the 70s.
Been corrected - TT2's were a 1960's product, well before R2D2s —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.89.178.11 (talk) 02:43, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
2 lite plastic tubs
editI very much doubt that these were introduced in the 1960s - I remember there only being the cardboard packs and I was born in late 1964. Also, NZ didn't go metric until 1974, so 2 litres would be an unlikely size before then. dramatic (talk) 02:33, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Distinctive font
editThe Tip Top brand is always in it's distinctive font - but check out this 1940 New York street pic!
Expansion - Merger with General Foods corporation
editThe article says "By 1964 the Company had expanded to such an extent that a parent company was formed, General Foods Corporation (NZ) Limited. It was rated as one of the soundest investments on the stock exchange and other companies were quick to note its potential."
However, There are a couple of resources that says that the merger happened in the year 1960. [1]https://teara.govt.nz/en/biographies/5m29/malaghan-leonard-aloysius-patrick [2]https://www.nzicecream.org.nz/history-nz-1970.htm#TipTopCorner
