Maintenance tagging

edit

An editor (User:Anupuma Raina) today removed maintenance templates from the article that were placed there a few months ago. He/she claimed that "all corrections have been made". Unfortunately, this is untrue, and the text still bears no compliance with WP:MOSBIO

  • The article's structure does not comply with WP:SECTIONS. It is absolutely unnecessary to have sections "Personal interests" or "Tenure as Director AIIMS". All level-2 headings related to his professional interests should be grouped as level-3 headings under "Career".
  • The article's lead does not comply with WP:MOSINTRO, both by content, style and by the use of peacock terms.
  • The article is overly detailed. Listing all cases that a judge has ever worked on is pointless. Listing all cases that a forensic investigator, in any country, has ever worked on in their lifetime, is equally pointless and makes no sense to the reader. This is to be an encyclopaedic article, not a full biography with complete bibliography of works. See WP:INDISCRIMINATE and WP:MOSBIO.
  • Style:
  • "He edited rather rewritten one of the oldest text". So, what did he do, edited or reWROTE - one of the oldest textS?
  • "During his tenure as a Director AIIMS, 330 Acres of land was acquired for AIIMS-2". During the land's tenure??? ("land" is the grammatical subject of the sentence).
  • "He kept himself aloof of awards and recognitions,Dogra firmly believed his best recognition or award is, some one, following his foot steps and technique's of work". Do you really think it's English?
—and countless other examples.
  • Punctuation and capitalisation:
  • why frequently no space after commas and periods throughout the article?
  • "in the activities of ORBO at AIIMS, (Organ Retrieval Banking Organization)" - why comma before brackets?
  • "and ex Member Medical Toxicology, of Registration committee, for Insecticides, Ministry of Agriculture, India, member RAP/SAC (Research analysis panel and Scientific advisory committee)of..." - I see at least 10 errors in a single line of text.
There are countless other examples. You really call all of this "edited"???

I am restoring the maintenance tags until the article fully complies with Wikipedia's Manual of Style and Manual of Style – Biographies of living persons. kashmiri 22:13, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

(User:Anupuma Raina)In response to Kashmiri, the cases cited in this article certainly is not the list of the cases delt by Professr T D Dogra in his life time. He have dealt(Supervised) more then 50'000 cases and given more then 5'000 opinions in complicated medico-legal situations from all over India and abroad, a rare expert in the world. Here only those cases are stated which are either having page on Wikipedia and/or endorsing his name in the page or given wide publicity by India Media, reffering his opinion or name..This is extremly necessary and relevent in cases done by the medico-legalist so that they can easily be reffered or cited or searched or contacted to get relevent information by experts, investigators, Lawyers, students, postgraduate students, resident doctors, court of law for search the actual cases and for public at large.Without such citation the article on Professor Dogra Shall not be complete and shall serve no purpose. Therefore I am removing the overly detailed.Rather there should be more case citationin in interest of Public and professionals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 27.251.1.179 (talk) 10:54, 14 May 2013 (UTC) Further the lead section has also been ammended, this is quiet concise and relevent and in my opinion require tobe retained as such, however if any English correction is needed it is welcome any one good in english may please correct it. I have attempted to correct to my nowledge of English, any one knowing good English may kindly coorect the English error it is humble request. I attempted copy editing but was not successfull. I have also removed the comment on Lead section.---Anupuma Raina.Reply

First of all, I encourage you to read again what Wikipedia is, and what it is WP:NOT. Wikipedia is not meant to "endorse" someone's name; it is not meant to facilitate someone to "easily be reffered or cited or searched or contacted"; it is not a bibliography for students and researchers. In no case should Wikipedia be understood as a promotion vehicle. Read again WP:NOT please.
Also, Wikipedia is not a legal case directory, and mentioning all those cases in an article (esp. a bibliographic article) has no WP:encyclopaedic value whatsoever. Students and researchers have better tools (e.g., scientific databases) to search for a given researcher's works.
Your insistence that article is well written and removal of maintenance tags constitutes WP:DISRUPTIVE editing. I am restoring the tags. Above, I took time to list some of the issues in the article. Instead of working towards improvement, you just kept deleting maintenance tags. See, if you don't feel comfortable with other editors' input, feel free to discuss it at WP:MEDIATION or take it to WP:ANI. But then you risk article might be moved away by Admins from main space due to serious quality issues.
Finally, be kind enough to respond below existing text and to sign your name at the end of posts using ~~~~. Regards, kashmiri TALK 17:53, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dear Kashmiri, The article was checked again the contents were like any other article seen on Wikipedia, once again it is to be noted that only those cases are cited which are already having a page on Wikipedia and are linked. It is no way a legal directory, there is no mention of any legal matter whatsoever in article, it is really painful and insulting to read such invalid comments by any one. Dogra worked extensively, boldly with honesty, hence gained confidence of people of all states and irrespective of caste or religion a very rare situation in this area, naturally this has attracted large number of situations, mention of few those which are having page on Wikipedia, which seems as if it is bibliography of cases, Dogra dealt almost all cases of this country may be 50000 or more, if cases conducted by him are having an independent page on Wikipedia then why they should not be linked, if these cases are large in number how they become excessive details it is beyond understanding, rather it should be appreciated by any one. Insistence of keeping maintenance tag shall be a bias. You are welcome to make correction of grammatical mistake as this author may be poor in English,if you do so it shall be highly appreciable. However, I do not know how to sign the page, in no way it was intended to disregard, for that apology. It is correct I am his student but it does not mean this article is intended to be written for postgraduates or student, they can be one of the beneficiary, if it is not for people then what is the purpose, please do not catch the words, try to understand the over all objectivity and purpose. With advance apology and regards........ Anupuma Raina. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.161.187.124 (talk) 03:27, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

As long as style, spelling and punctuation remain the way they are, maintenance templates should remain. Also, the article includes too much detail for Wikipedia which - important - is not an WP:INDISCRIMINATE collection of information (e.g., the name of the elementary school, its distance from Jammu or the list of all functions he performed at university). The list of cases should be presented in a more legible manner because nobody will go through 100 lines of text to find what the person did. This has to be a brief encyclopaedia-style biographical article, not a complete monography. Read WP:MOSBIO, WP:MOS and especially WP:WPBIO please. Actually, the article needs so much work that I am toying with an idea of sending it back to WP:AI. kashmiri TALK 13:13, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Is his Hindi name right?

edit
  • In the leading part, his name is spelled in Devanagari as तीरथ दास ङोग़रा , which transcribes as "tīratha dāsa ŋōg.arā"; in the third word 'ŋ' is the sound of "ng" in English "sing", and is nothing like "d". Should it be तीरथ दास डोग़रा "tīratha dāsa ḍōg.arā"? Notice the extra dot in ङ and not in ड Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:30, 7 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
