Cast listing of Ryan Allen and Chantria Tram

edit

It really depends how they are credited in the end credits. If they are credited as individually in the end credits, then they should be listed individually. If they are listed together using "and", then they should be listed together using "and". MOS:TVCAST still applies. As I recalled, they were listed individually in the end credits. — YoungForever(talk) 15:44, 9 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

I agree, they're completely separate and were only probably added together initially due to being announced in the same ref. No reason to compel the article to continue to list them on the same bullet, making them stand-out in the otherwise 1:1 listing. JesseRafe (talk) 16:06, 9 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
They are not completely separate. They are both billed as "co-stars" who appear on the same credit screen. While they have their own individual credit segment, they share their credit with themselves and the other co-stars.
Every co-star should not be listed together, but they should be trimmed to improve the article's readability. Only those deemed notable are included and there are other measures that can be taken to prevent the list from being too long. Like how John and Mary Grayson are only notable for being Dick's parents, Jack and Janet Drake are only notable for being Tim's parents. They do not have notability as individuals. Instead of repeating how each is a parent of Tim, that information can be combined, making the article more concise and readable.
Listing every actor 1:1 would mean separating Jake Michaels and Brendan Fraser on the season 1 article, despite them playing the same character. No reason to repeat the same notable information. Bluerules (talk) 22:06, 9 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
That's just a false strawman argument. Voice-acting and physical acting are separately credited in every aspect of those types of roles, beyond WP, but in journalism discussing performances and even SAG etc. Your suggested edit impairs the readability, there is no sensible argument for "two people playing two separate roles should be listed on the same bullet". Readability was improved by my edit separating the two. You haven't made the argument, or responded to YoungForever's point. They should be separated. This is throwing out terms you don't understand to make unfounded blanket statements and false assertions. Other credit listings may provide guidance, but they do not determine how Wikipedia is written because Wikipedia is written based on what's best for the project. Whereas SAG is based on what's in the actor's contract, Wikipedia is based on making information easy to read and that's why voice acting and physical acting are not separately credited on Wikipedia. Connected actors have always been combined on Wikipedia, whether it be through sub-bullets, prose, or the same bullet, to avoid repetition. Separating Jake Michaels and Brendan Fraser would mean either repeating information about the same character they play or having an awkwardly blank description for one of them, which sticks out when everyone else has a description. And to top it off, the cast list gets longer for no good reason, which impairs readability. There is no sensible argument for unnecessarily expanding information.
You assert there is "no sensible argument" for two people playing two separate roles listed on the same bullet, but don't provide a single point to back up your claim. Nobody but you has objected to actors sharing bullets. What other editors have objected to is too many minor characters being placed in a cast listing, which makes the listing too long and impairs readability. That's the argument, which you ignored. And your assertion that I didn't respond to YoungForever's point is completely false. As I pointed out (and you completely ignored), they are not truly credited individually. They are both billed as "co-stars" who appear on the same credit screen. If they were "guest stars" who received their own title credit, it would be a different scenario, but they did not. Readability was impaired by your edit separating the two. Readability was improved by my edit combining the two. They should be combined to prevent the cast list from being too long. I am here in response to a third opinion request. I have declined the request, as there are already more than two participants in this discussion. I encourage everyone to remain civil and continue the discussion. If this does not result in timely consensus, other dispute resolution options, including WP:DRN, are available.
