Doesn't Labor always accuse the Tories of being Toffs? Not just in 09.
edit"As of 2009, the current leadership of the UK Conservative Party are regarded as toffs by their opponents, an accusation they are keen to deny."
Isn't it a custom for Labour to accuse Conservatives of being Toffs, going back to the start of the parties?
- If you can find a suitable source, do add something to that effect. My view is that times have changed. Thatcher was the grocer's daughter and Tebbit the Chingford skinhead. Michael Howard and Senor Portillo are the sons of refugees. That generation was not quite so open to the accusation as the previous or current ones.--Cavrdg (talk) 05:26, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Care to mention David Cameron's relationship to the queen and privileged upbringing and education? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.66.208.236 (talk) 04:12, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
Toffee
editI thought it was from ‘toffee-nosed’, i.e. someone with their nose stuck up in the air, a posture indicating snobbery.
