Red ink

edit

The reason that red ink may appear on a disambiguation page is that people may be mentioned and red inked in other articles, perfectly notable individuals, but currently without articles. For example the Tom Woods who is a horticulturalist is a winner of the Victoria Metal and these two articles link to him: Hedychium coccineum and Victoria Medal (horticulture). Since we frequently have articles linking to the wrong person, disambiguation pages are a way to straighten that out. I have not checked the notability of all the entries on this page, but you should at least look at what links here for the red ink ones before removing. --Bejnar 23:42, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation page is not used for this purpose. It is used when there are already articles with disambiguation names. Why don't you create the page first to pass WP:NOTABILITY and then link them here. This is used to avoid vandals who created non-sense pages. I hope you understand. — Indon (reply) — 06:55, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
That is not a Wikipedia policy or guideline. See the on-going discussion at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation#People with "red links", where some people agree with you and some don't. --Bejnar 23:12, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
That page has been archived at Wikipedia_talk:Disambiguation/Archive 23#People with "red links" --Bejnar (talk) 19:59, 28 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • I removed Tom Wood (occupational therapist) because there were no links from other pages to him, however the race car driver had half a dozen articles that linked. One can prevent nonsense without deleting all red-ink. --Bejnar 23:16, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tom Wood (hacker)

edit
Please provide information about Tom Woods (hacker), so that it can be determined whether or not he is notable. I note that there are still no links from other pages to him. --Bejnar 18:26, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for providing a Google search for Tom Wood (hacker). I was thinking of reliable source data. It looks as though he had his 15 minutes of fame and is not otherwise notable. --Bejnar 06:27, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
