Tong Hua (writer) → Tong Hua – This is the only page whose title should be "Tong Hua." Fairy Tale (Michael Wong album), which Tong Hua redirects to, has a Pinyin name of "Tóng Huà," with diacritics. The Chinese city is named Tonghua, with no space. Thus, I think this is the dominant "Tong Hua."--Mike Selinker (talk) 01:56, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- Comment there is more than one way to romanize Chinese, including the city/county. "通化" can be romanized as "Tong Hua", referring to the county, city, and former province.[1]; it also should indicate Putonghua as an abbreviation. 70.24.249.190 (talk) 02:54, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose Tong Hua should be a disambiguation page for Tong Hua writer, Tonghua City, Tonghua County, Tonghua Province. Using a basic Google search, the album gets more hits than the writer. Further, other things, such as the language and the city also show up fairly frequently. 70.24.249.190 (talk) 03:00, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- Comment I will WP:BOLDly disambiguate "Tong Hua", if this writer is moved there, the page can be moved to Tong Hua (disambiguation) or Tonghua (disambiguation). 70.24.249.190 (talk) 02:58, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- Support. There is no ambiguity. Tonghua is not the same thing and if there is the possibility of confusion, a hatnote can be used. — AjaxSmack 03:36, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- Considering that Chinese can be romanized in multiple ways, and that "Tong Hua" is used for the Tonghua entities as well, there is ambiguity. 70.24.249.190 (talk) 12:20, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose. Many English-speaking people (e.g. me) aren't familiar with the diacritics used in scientific transcription of Chinese and don't know when spaces are appropriate or inappropriate. For this reason, I suspect that most people who look simply for "Tong Hua" are looking for something other than this writer, so having Tong Hua redirect to Tonghua (disambiguation), as it does now, is going to be helpful to a larger number of readers than your proposal would be. Nyttend (talk) 20:39, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose. There is no principled reason Tonghua could not be correctly Romanised as Tong Hua. It seems too close for comfort. I also agree with Nyttend that someone searching for "Tong Hua" on the English Wikipedia is probably not looking for the writer. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:21, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
