Confusion

edit

Perhaps, for those more familiar with the, these following questions would be obvious. Alas, I have no idea of the answer, but I think it needs to be made specified in the article.

- Why was the shooting of the truck driver a federal crime?

- It says that the president found a loophole in Michigan's law stating that a person could be put to death in the state for treason. Yet, the article only mentions he was charged with attempted robbery and murder. If he was subsequently charged with, and convicted of, treason, too, that needs to be made explicitly known.

- Lastly, how is it possible he was charged with treason given his crime (i.e. a simple attempt bank robbery)?

Thanks. --Criticalthinker (talk) 10:39, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Agree. What lead to this being federal jurisdiction? According to Capital punishment in Michigan, "no person has ever been convicted or indeed tried for treason against Michigan" (uncited), so it wasn't treason, unless that's incorrect. My guess is the parking lot where he shot the truck driver was federal property? Or maybe the nearby river where the bank seems to be located? 76.220.32.151 (talk) 08:22, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
