COI

edit

In accordance with Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, I have chosen to disclose that I have a personal connection to this subject. But, my main purpose in writing this article is to benefit Wikipedia and its mission. I believe this article is written from a neutral perspective, is sourced appropriately, and has been constructed from independent, reliable sources. The second link above provides the following summary, which I believe I have followed appropriately:

  • Be transparent about your conflict of interest (  Done)
  • Subjects require significant coverage in independent reliable sources. (  Done)
  • Your role is to inform and reference, not promote or sell. (  Done)
  • Be extremely cautious about the risks of editing articles about yourself or your clients (  Done)
  • If writing a draft, write without bias, as if you don't work for the company or personally know the subject. (  Done)
  • State facts and statistics, don't be vague or general. (  Done)
  • Take time to get sources and policy right. (  Done)
  • Get neutral, uninvolved, disinterested editors to review your draft. (  Doing...)
  • Work with the community and we'll work with you. (  Doing...)
  • Communicate, communicate, communicate. (  Doing...)

My ultimate goal is to promote this article to Good or Featured status. I understand this will require review and assistance from other members of the community, which is great. I invite all to examine this article carefully to make sure the content is fair and accurate. I have experience promoting COI articles to Good or Featured status, including this one, this one, this one and this one. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns. ----Another Believer (Talk) 03:20, 8 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think disclosing your COI may be appropriate as you have created two pages that appear connected to one individual where you did the majority of the editing on both pages, including page creation. KeepItGoingForward (talk) 07:45, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've already disclosed my COI... ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:39, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
You did not specify what your COI is. You just said you had one. For instance, there is a difference between being a paid editor and someone that knows the person in passing. KeepItGoingForward (talk) 20:57, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've worked for Top Level Design and I know Ray King personally and professionally. We first met at local Wikipedia meetups, actually. Some other WikiProject Oregon members have met him, too! I posted COI templates to the TLD, Ray King, .design, .gay, and .wiki Talk pages, but you're welcome to update them as needed. I thought I was doing an OK job of actually disclosing my COI. In terms of article content, I'm happy to address any concerns you may have, or you and other editors are more than welcome to edit the entries as you see fit. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:17, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@KeepItGoingForward: Since you're happy with the Talk page templates now, can you remove the "close connection" tag? ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:02, 8 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Equine-man: Thanks for removing the tag. Curious if you're willing to take a look at Ray King (entrepreneur) and .design, too. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:11, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I watch Liz’s talk page, I saw you talking about the article’s. Looking at them now. Equine-man (talk) 18:14, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Great, thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:16, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

COI tag (January 2023)

edit

Creator and main editor disclose COI for this page and the Ray King page, but do not disclose the nature of their COI. Also tried to "archive" their COI in the talk page. KeepItGoingForward (talk) 07:48, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@KeepItGoingForward I archived my comment because I thought the COI template at the top of this page was sufficient. Editors are welcome to identify any non-neutral or otherwise problematic content. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:14, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Notability tag

edit

User:Equine-man, I'm curious if you feel the notability tag placed by User:KeepItGoingForward is necessary? ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:23, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I don’t, but I want to go through everything on my laptop tonight to be thorough. Equine-man (talk) 19:23, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
No prob, thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:24, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Equine-man, User:KeepItGoingForward, I see someone has added a COI tag back. Seeking removal (again), if either of you are able to help. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:50, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely, we already had the discussion, came to a solution with the tags up on the talk pages. I believe that fits with the policies and you have acted in good faith. KeepItGoingForward (talk) 05:11, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@KeepItGoingForward Thank you. ---Another Believer (Talk) 05:14, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Wiki.wiki still exists as a wiki farm

edit

Concerning this diff. The wikis are still up and the pages on them are viewable. And some of the wikis get a lot of views:

Wiki farms are notorious for downtime, software changes, software problems, and occasional ownership changes. So it is premature to remove this info:

Top Level Design also operates Wiki.Wiki, a wiki farm with free hosting. - Reference: Wiki.Wiki home page has links to wikis. Their "about us" page says that Top Level Design is the operator, and indicates that the hosting is free.

The reference includes info on the free hosting nature of the wiki farm, because some people were confused about whether it was free or paid hosting for the wikis. --Timeshifter (talk) 11:43, 15 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

The article had a tag re: excessive or inappropriate use of external links. I removed the tag and have copied the links below:
