Woodward Tornado
editThe Woodward tornado was on the 15th not the 14th.----Dcheagle 20:55, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Both the Storm Prediction Center and WP:SEVERE break the days at 1200Z, or 7AM Central Daylight Time, to simplify dealing with typical severe weather events, which generally start in mid-afternoon and continue into the "wee hours" of the morning. Thus it's listed as a part of the April 14th event. rdfox 76 (talk) 21:32, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Ok then.--Dcheagle 02:20, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
California Tornado
editShould that even be included in this article? I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with what happened. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.3.150.59 (talk) 04:16, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure it's from the same system. So yes.71.253.69.48 (talk) 06:38, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- Are you sure about that? [1] It looks like there were two separate low pressure systems responsible for the storms. 129.3.150.59 (talk) 13:21, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- You might be right about that. 71.253.69.48 (talk) 20:00, 16 April 2012 (UTC)I'm fairly certian the system did put down a tornado at some point in CA
- Yes but it was a different system. 72.224.9.63 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 13:31, 12 May 2012 (UTC).
Part bust?
editShould this be listed as a halfbust in the High Risk list? A large part of it busted -- about half, the northern half. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.253.69.48 (talk) 06:37, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Things to improve
editOk, glancing over the article here's some things to improve:
- Add more sources and fill out existing sources
- Fill in Aftermath section
- Expand section on Woodward tornado. This was the most significant tornado of the outbreak given the death toll.
- Either cite the Weather Channel stuff to a video of their coverage or get rid of it...as I've said before, unless there's a recording of it accessable somewhere Weather Channel live coverage is not verifiable after the fact.
- Explain what PDS tornado warnings are, given that they are a new phenomenon. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lsx/?n=ibwpoject is a good resource for this.
- Source meteorological synopsis section
- Expand the lead section
- Consider adding a section for the Rice/Ellsworth/McPherson/Saline county tornado, given it was the most intense in the outbreak
I will work on doing the things I've listed here, but I could really use some assistance doing so. Ks0stm (T•C•G•E) 19:10, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- I put in the Weather Channel stuff to cover WFO Wichita having to take shelter during the storm. Sadly, weather.com doesn't seem to have the video up (which I would; it was pretty intense stuff), so I'll see if I can find anything on it on the NWS site, but we might not be able to get that until they publish the post-mortem on the outbreak. rdfox 76 (talk) 00:33, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Needs work
editThe tornado list really needs work. Some of the entries have no info still, and some don't even have ratings. Anyone have source as to where I can get confirmed ratings for the Oklahoma unrated tornadoes? We may have to wait until this years NCDC data comes out. Also, there were some unrated Minnesota tornadoes on the 15th. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sharkguy05 (talk • contribs) 15:55, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
