We should add the Boy's swim team's CIF championship this year. Also the boy's volleyball team is the CIF runnerup for their division. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.122.21.204 (talk) 04:22, 2 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

New Additions

edit

I added alot of information and pictures to the page and I was hoping that someone might be able to take somemore pictures of the buildings at school, preferabbly the more historic ones suchas the Auditorium, Gym,and Library. I was also hoping if some one could write a better school history, because Torrance High turned 90 years old this september and the history is not even 90 words long. --Croc 05:24, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alumni

edit

We should remove all alumni that are not verified graduates and remove alumni that are really famous or known for achievements. --Croc 03:47, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The list of alumni for Torrance High isn't too bad as far as notability goes, although they should all be verified (I just too a weed-whacker to one school's list, eliminating over a third of the names, including a hampster breeder, a pickle farmer, and a NASCAR fan!). Still, there's at least three or four that aren't that notable. BlankVerse 08:07, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I didn't sell as many albums as Juan and Blotz, but I did manage to retire at 46 as a working musician. I did graduate from Torrance Jan. '75, and was signed to two major label deals. My band headlined the L.B. Arena 2/14/80, and the Santa Monica Civic 4/26/80.(Both Sellouts!) If you need copies of my recording contacts, diploma, tickets, ticket stubs, photographs, etc. let me know how to contact you. My band's name was "Hustler". Hey at least we're listed under "Hustler" yeecch! D. Mayberry Class of '74& a half. Sorry to hear about Mrs. Wright/Eng. teacher. Great teacher, better person! P.S. If you still feel the need to keep other Alumni from hearing about me, wondering if I made it after hearing my band play in the Gym,(of which I still have pictures), etc. Delete me!

You know this is an encyclopedia, right? That's what facebook is for, buddy. Dizzizz (talk) 03:30, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Alumni Gary Hakanson and Tom Vanderpool deserve a mention and a look-up, for very different reasons. Fsheff (talk) 22:55, 3 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Pictures

edit

we need more pictures of the school, if anyone is willing to post some it will be highly appreciated.

We need more pictures, also does anyone know how to put pictures on the site, because there are alot on the internet.

I can take more, are there any requests of certain parts of the campus? The most photogenic parts of the school are the front and the senior patio, but I could get pictures of the junior quad or whatever you want when I'm walking around campus. I would like to get a picture of the back of the gym, but the paint is looking very shabby and it has been egged recently. User talk:twigs

the back of the gym was recently painted at the end of december --Croc 05:30, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Try to find some circa'73-75 pics of the back of the gym. With the much larger and different Tartar. The new little guy looks sickly! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.115.149.46 (talk) 05:59, 11 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wonder how old the band pic is...the SoCal Dream Drum & Bugle Corps used Torrance's shakos when we used the school as a practice site in 2006 (the asst. band director was our brass caption head), and I bought chains to replace the chin straps....but I don't see the chains in the pic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.112.244.3 (talk) 11:53, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

School History

edit

+ Is it just me or is the school history an almost identical paraphrasing of the Torrance High history page? Isn't that some sort of infringement? Twigs 22:35, October 13, 2006 (UTC)

It may be WP:COPYVIO. Can you rewrite it to make it better? Flakeloaf 08:30, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fast Times at Ridgemont High

edit

Was Fast Times at Ridgemont High really filmed here? I can't find mention of that fact anywhere else. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mig29 (talkcontribs)

Looks like not. Even though my friend that went to Torrance HS said she was told it was filmed there, http://www.seeing-stars.com/Locations/80sLocations3.shtml and http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083929/locations both agree that Fast Times at Ridgemont High was filmed at Canoga Park High School, 6850 Topanga Canyon Blvd., at the corner of Vanowen Street, in Canoga Park, California, and Van Nuys High School, 6535 Cedros Avenue. The Wild Life (which has the same creators as Fast Times) was filmed there though. See the IMDb entry for Torrance High School for a full list. I'm removing Fast Times from the article. --Closeapple 11:51, 7 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

{helpme} The pictures in the gallery at the bottom of the page do not show up. Can Someone try to fix this. --Croc 04:31, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

They show up fine for me. New sections on a talk page go at the bottom, and please only use {helpme} on your own user talk page.--Commander Keane 05:02, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Now looking over what I did to this article a year ago, it seems preposterous that other editors didn't call me on it. The whole article needs to be written, and probably 50% of the material needs to be cut as unencyclopedic cruft. Who cares what clubs there are at the high school? Not even university articles have those lists. I am going to head the effort, but right now I have several exams, so will not be doing huge revisions until the weekend. • Definitely turned a bit "crufty," eh? I swung by to update the entry on the 1933 earthquake since today is the anniversary...and I found, well, this. I'll also post some citations regarding Steve Brownlee. Steve is still a friend of mine after all these years and he really did all of what the article claims. I was in the same graduating class of 1979 with him, Ryan Hedgecock and Lisa Moretti. I went to grade school with Ryan and I remember being in some classes with Lisa. Ah, memories...--PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:07, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Glad to hear it. Any pics from back then too, if you have any, and if anything is different, might be nice additions. ALTON .ıl 07:49, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
