Suggest
editSuggest that the word neurotherapeutic be replaced by the word therapeutic. But, I have never seen the word therapeutic being applied as a drug action on a receptor. It would make sense, if the drug had a protective effect on the receptor. If such a word exists its use is redundant.

Confused
editI'm a bit confused on what disease this page is about. It appears to be talking about the disease known as: early onset primary torsin dystonia, which is sometimes just known as torsin dystonia or DYT1 dystonia. That is the name of the disease in which is related to the DYT1 mutation mentioned in the causes section. Then under the section classification. It doesn't talk about the classification of the disease but insead talks about other dystonias, none of which have anything to do with the DYT1 mutant disease. Some of these are late onset dystonia and some are secondary dystonias. They shouldn't be mentioned in the body of the article. If they were to be mentioned it should be in a see also section or linked via a catergory grouping of all dystonias. Also as far as I known there are no papers linking the DYT1 mutation to any of the other dystonias as mentioned in this article, the DYT1 mutant has only been found in individuals who suffers from torsin dystonia (ie early onset, symptoms starting as focal and may generalise over time) and is not present in any other dystonia. HTD and IQ
editHere are two scientific papers that find a strong correlation between torsion dystonia and high I.Q.
-
- Data obtained on a group of patients with the autosomal recessive form of TD and their siblings indicate that the gene for recessive TD increases intelligence.
- The mean I.Q. of the patients was 121 (range 104-170) and that of their controls was 111 (range 76-147). This difference is significant (p<0.03). These data suggest that the gene for torsion dystonia enhances I.Q. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slartibartfastibast (talk • contribs) 00:07, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
